Granted I haven't seen many shows this year but last night wins top honors for my favorite of the year by a mile. I don't remember the last time I felt so wired at 2:00 am. Still buzzing today. Now let's see if I can stay awake during the Nutcracker.

Stay The Course

They were good, but not mind-blowing.

I think my dad used to say that. Or was it George Bush? Wait...my dad always used to say "Keep your chin up."

I had a great time. It was definitely one of the best times I've had at a show this year. I really enjoyed Statehood too. It's good to see Joe and Eric making some enjoyable music again, and Clark's a great, dynamic frontman.

Fasntastic show. For a DC crowd, the energy was unmatched by any other show I have been to here. I liked those guys before.... I love them now.

i thought it was a great show.
statehood sounded great, but i'd watch clark sing the alphabet.
i thought the big sleep were not my cuppa cuppa which surprised me because i saw an orange head on the bass players amp and with the exception of the burning brides, there's never been an orange head on stage where i didn't love the music coming out of it.
hold steady were phenomenal phenomenal showmen. i was happy to see franz playing keyboards with them.
although, i'm not happy about all the douchenozzles getting up on stage at the end.
i f-ing hate that.

Did anybody get any pictures?
-
Eh, I got a few, but none really turned out too well. I was using my wife's camera, because it's small.
Here's the photoset on flickr (http://flickr.com/photos/brandonhirsch/sets/72157594395543907/).

Clearly the band encouraged the audience members to get up there and Craig & co. seemed to be loving it, so what's the beef? Keep in mind this is after Craig and Tad handed their guitars off to audience members to play.
Shit. The Today show is on in the background and that douche James Blunt is singing. Gotta go turn that shit off....

It seems like many fans/boardies (who think of rock shows like jocks think of football games) would be in favor of that. "Yeah, man, it just added to the energy. The crowd was so fucking into it."

Go fuck yourself in your contrarian ass, Rhett.

I am neither that well hung, nor that flexible.

Then go find a pen or a pair of scissors or something. Take out one of your eyes while you're at it.

i think the kids who got handed the guitars were trusted or maybe even known to the band.
i'm talking about the kids from back of the house who saw "hey! stagetime! cool!" and ran to the front to climb up there.
it's happenend at other shows too, and i, at the risk of sounding like a 70-y.o. curmudgeon, don't like it.
just say'n.
