Insert all your joys and fascinations with the shit hole that is Pittsburgh here.

They got a cool bar called Ugly.
You can play quarters there.
Kewl.

-
what really fascinates me about pittsburg is how it makes idiots crawl out of the woodwork and take their misplaced frustrations out on the city. so strange. then they seek validation by asking others to join in their stupid game.
-
I like Pittsburgh. Particularly the South Side.
Now Cleveland is a shit hole....
-
I thought this said "Pitchfork is a shithole", and I was ready to jump right in.
Pittsburgh, it's ok I guess. I ran the Pittsburgh Marathon on my 33rd birthday in May, 2000. That marathon was used as an Olympic qualifier. It was 90 degrees, the course was unfuckingbelievably hilly. I failed to qualify for the Olympics.
-
hey slappy, i do believe if you want to play beer pong in dc there are several bars that cater to that crowd.

I'm pretty sure that beer pong is against ABC regulations in Virginia.
-
i think youre right..but "that crowd" seems to love whitlows, clarendon ballroom/grill, etc...
-
they used to have tables at dreamo's in va and i remember watching people play at the exchange

in high school i remember being amazed at how flat other areas of the country were. we'd go to delaware and 2 minutes would melt off my 5k time. my wife gets dizzy every time we visit my parents
-
"That crowd." I love shit like that.
I hear GGW runs illegal games of beer pong and flip cup out of his basement.

The Warhol Museum is in Pittsburgh

that would explain his familiarity with the state beer pong laws

Pittsburgh REALLY SUCKS (http://www.topix.com/forum/state/pa/TFQPK09LJH1TKPP07)

I tried out for those too, but they rejected me for being too tall.

Pittsburgh only sucks when Manny Theiner is involved.

it has its positives and negatives. did the steelers or pens beat your team(s) ass lately? what gives?

It brings me great joy to know you are still feeling bad enough today to create this thread!
You really should not tie your self image to a mediocre sports team. Bitterness & envy are two really ugly traits...
Get outside & do something CRAZY!!
<img src="http://www.kuklaskorner.com/images/uploads/ovechkin_segway.jpg" alt=" - " />
(I think Alex is trying to console the kid for essentially knocking the Caps out of the playoffs)

Uncle Sam's subs beat any DC sub by a mile.

Sienna Miller called it "Shitsburg."
Not really making any comment or anything, just felt like posting a photo of Sienna Miller with a cookie. Call it my contribution to the culture.

Ahhhhh, the shit hole that is Pittsburgh.
Where even the Zamboni needs a heavy flow tampon.

I guess that what happens when Sid and the Zamboni's 'Aunt Flow' arrive at the same time. And jeez you tools make fun of the lack of Caps fans, the Igloo sure looks packed there.
(Keep the Pen's BS off the Caps thread and I'll stop. I got LOTS more.)

I've been to Pittsburgh once and besides the culinary wonders at Primanti Brothers, I was awestruck by the fact that I could buy 30 pack cases of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Pabst Blue Ribbon Light and Pabst Blue Ribbon Ice. To this day, I've never seen PBR Ice anywhere else. Though the fact that I had recently turned 21 back then might have had something to do with such simple pleasures.

Because during the intermissions, most people sit there and watch the zamboni as opposed to going and getting a beer or using the restroom. Yep.

Here's the thing slapjack: I've got even more!
This tidbit is Caps related:
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08070/863939-61.stm (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08070/863939-61.stm)
The game attracted a capacity crowd of 18,277, the Capitals' fourth sellout of the season.
As usual, Penguins fans accounted for a significant portion of the turnout, and nearly everyone associated with the visitors suggested that the backing they received had an impact on the outcome.
"It's amazing when we play here, how much fan support we get," defenseman Brooks Orpik said. "It's always nice to come here. [The Penguins' fans] energize you. You almost have a home feeling, with all the fans we have here."
-
Pittsburgh is pretty corn in my opinion, I grew out a half hour outside pittsburgh I another shit hole. But the south side in pittsburgh is for fratty college students its just like I said for fratty college students....theres hardly any diversity in the city, its racist as hell, primanti's I ate there once because of the big whooo haa about it, and I would have rather made my own sandwhich in which I would have saved my self from a heart attack, although there is some funky spots in Pittsburgh and at times the city can have its spunk about it, but those are rare times. The people there are so obsessed with football and sports and they all have identity crisis' so they identify there selves with all the sports teams and put all their time and energy into them so they have something to do with their time besides eat their weight in burgers, hot dogs, and primanti sandwhiches. i'm done
-
the only thing that sucks more than pittsburgh: the washington capitals.
the only that sucks more than the washington capitals: the washington capitals' fans (and given how much the caps sucked against the pens this weekend, that's a lot of suckage!!!)

You're right. Let me just change "east coast" to this side of the Mississippi.

I can't speak of Pittsburgh because I've never been to the place, but I have met many 'Pittsburgers' and let me tell you, every one of them has been a total shithead of the highest order...and what happened to the education system in Pittsburgh??? Everyone of them was dumb as dirt.
-
And to think all this talk resulted from a regular season game of a so-called niche sport....
Who said hockey is dead in the U.S.?

i really love karl hendricks.
i always feel guilty about admitting that too, and i'm not sure why.

The inferiority complex of Pens fans keeps it burning. Throw a little kindling on the fire every so often and out they crawl.
They gotta post a weak retort.
Hey! The shit hole that is Pittsburgh is a lot like Los Angeles (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18413570/) without the nice climate, hot chicks, and movie stars. Well, movies stars that don't mind being there.

hint: it ain't in DC or south of the mason dixon.

I actually haven't seen him since 1995 i think. I was working at WPRB in princeton, NJ at the time and i knew them through my friend (and their occassional roadie) John D. so i got them to play on air, and they stayed in the dorms of Founders Hall where the station was located and one of them...i think it was Tom, was really wigged out they were going to get discovered because it was during the summer and no one was supposed to be in the dorms.
They were going to play a show that night at the Khyber in philly, but the khyber hadn't thought to renew their liquor license (it was july and the license expired on halloween) so the LCB shut the khyber down, and instead of opening the next day (the night KHIII were to play)and just serve sodas, they remained dark.

Having a disussion about which is a bigger shit hole, DC or Pittsburgh, is like sitting on Death Row debating between electrocution or lethal injection. In the end, it doesn't really matter because you're screwed no matter what the outcome.

well maybe, but this is about how silly one caps fan is, not either city

Thanks, but its really not all about a silly caps fan.
As I keep saying again and again, it's about insecure Pen's Fans that just don't get 'it'.
'It'- Your team and players are good, some great. They aren't the greatest ever and many players in the league are and have been better. You're not the greatest fans, you don't know when to shut up. On top of that, half of the negative shit you spew has happened to your own team in the past. You just can't be bothered when its pointed out, you just gotta reply with idiotic shit.
The shit hole that is Pittsburgh are the strings to the Puppet Penguin Fans. Dance little fans, dance. Let's rock this thread a few more pages.

Pittsburgh suckatude jumps the pond to Champions League.
Mind The Link (http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/03/04/reverence_for_barnsley_feeds_g.html)
"Ahhh Pittsburgh, that disgusting slagheap of an excuse for the USA's industrial centre. Look at what some fervently loyal Pennsylvanians say about their beloved city.
"Boy I gotta say Pittsburgh, PA is about the filthiest, dirtiest, most disgusting city I've ever been to. It also has the crappiest weather in the USA. The people there are stupid and obsessed with football and food. What a garbage dump YUCK!"
"I have to agree. I've lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and this town is a garbage dump. Nothing to do... depressing job market. If it wasn't for my son I'd have left."
"Pittsburgh is a dump, living in the past. I work in the Strip District, and walk daily during my lunch hour.I see the same garbage sitting in the same place every day of the week. I see city owned garbage cans, overflowing. The city of Pittsburgh has several garages & buildings in the Strip. They are dirty on the outside, it looks like the sidewalks haven't been swept in years. Soon, weeds will pop up in front of them. These weeds will last into the fall just like every other year. Pittsburgh needs to get out of the past.. How long can the media and city leaders refer to Pittsburgh as " The City Of Champions"? In the late seventies after the Steelers dominated with the 4 Super Bowls and the Pirates winning the World Series, the city started using this slogan. Newsflash, that was yesterday. I have lived in the area my entire life, and I am only here for the short haul. I intend to do something about it, and will migrate South. Pittsburgh needs someone with ambition and a drive. You can spray a big cloud of cologne on the city, but, no matter what, it still is nothing but crap and will never change."

to be fair, no one said that pens fans were the best, never said that they were the greatest team, just better than the caps. and you were pretty dismissive about the caps attendance problems too. its pretty funny that you try and win the thread with quotes from punters on the internet because the caps cant win against the pens. i mean, the weather isnt going to stop the caps from scoring goals on themselves. so yeah. silly

Ahhhh. The shit hole that is Pittsburgh, where piss is as equally important!
While the Washington Post has 'Letters to the Editors' from folks like the Ambassador of Greece commenting on NATO policies.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has more important things to discuss, like No trough urinals! (http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/opinion/letters/send/s_550772.html)
Yes, troughs, the things most of us sophisticated folks know as where cows and pigs eat.
You see, for years Pens fans have had problems going wee wee in those new fangled urinal thingies. The new arena being built will bring them up to the technologies of last century.
Let's help 'em get acquainted.
Pee bad. no.

What is the most valid definition of the Pittsburgh Platter?
Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Pittsburgh+Platter) has two definitions. I just can't figure out which one is more common?
Strange ... both definitions include 'defecating'.
How could anyone associate fecal matter and Pittsburgh?

I thought this said "Pitchfork is a shithole", and I was ready to jump right in.
Pittsburgh, it's ok I guess. I ran the Pittsburgh Marathon on my 33rd birthday in May, 2000. That marathon was used as an Olympic qualifier. It was 90 degrees, the course was unfuckingbelievably hilly. I failed to qualify for the Olympics.

Considering no one has posted in this thread in 12 years, it's probably not relevant... However, other than a large population of pear shaped yinzers that lean towards the right, basically everything about Pittsburgh is pretty awesome.
Much better pizza than here too.

Have not been to Pittsburgh in 20 years but I did recently visit Pitchfork. It is indeed a shitty little website.

I once took my mom to Pizza Paradiso in Alexandria and she proclaimed it the best pizza she had ever eaten. And she's been to a lot of Pizza Huts in her 78+ years. Though she's never been to Pittsburgh.
Of course, a couple years (2019) later I took her to Rustico in Alexandria and she proclaimed that to be the best pizza she has ever had.
She also once proclaimed Patch Adams to be the best movie she ever saw, though I don't know that she's still holding onto that opinion.
Should this be moved to the pizza thread?

nice one
this wasn't comforting...
Experts expect more near-collisions like this if nobody removes dead satellites from space.
