You might be interested to know that Sleater Kinney will be playing the 9:30 club on April 22 with the Thermals. They will also be playing Recher Theatre in Baltimore on the 21st. I don't see the date on this site; I guess because the tickets haven't gone on sale yet. But the dates are on the band's official site.

Thanks, Fiona...we had a posting on this in the "Just Announced" thread, and we have some *very* happy boardies!
-
I dont read the just announced thread so thanx for making this one, that is great news.

I don't read the Just Announced thread either. It's too long to scroll through all the posts about bands I have no interest in to find something I am interested in.

tickets.com is showing Sleater-Kinney tickets going on sale 3/18 at 10:00.

How anyone can listen to, much less enjoy, that steaming crap-pile of a band is absolutely amazing to me. They suck with the power of a dozen black holes.

Yeah... I was looking forward to having my SK tickets today. *pout*

I thought this thread was going to be about lesbians.

just testing out my new screen name... it makes me giggle that the screen says "Hello, Rhett has no balls"
-
How untrue. Rhett has a very nice set of balls. Perhaps he could show them to you sometime.

You can look it up in the dictionary.
Sleater-Kinney: A craptacular band from Washington State that sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. The guitar player can't play guitar. The singer can't sing. The drummer can only sorta play drums. They suck like no one has ever sucked before. Suck sucky suckage.
-
I dunno, I saw Sleater-Kinney once, and thought they were great. And they're not even close to being in line with most of my musical taste...
-
you can stick yer dictionary up yer ass......

Ummm... you mean "guitar player*s*" right? And singer? Hmm... you must be mistaken.
Gotta say, though, your loss. I'm glad you won't be competing for tickets with us!
-
you care too much about a no name band you don't like. go complain about coldplay or something
-
Only a fucking idiot who didn't know anything about song writing would say Sleater-Kinney sucks. Listen to "One Beat" and shut the fuck up. Sleater-Kinney is the greatest all female band of all time, and possibly some of the best song writing i've ever heard.
Just LISTEN TO 'ONE BEAT'.
P.S. I'm going to be there... at both... as soon as tickets go onsale.
-
Sleater-Kinney is from Portland Oregon.

You mean the best of the four or five all female bands that anyone has ever heard of? Wow, what an honor.
and possibly some of the best song writing i've ever heard.
Just started listening to music last Thursday, eh? Welcome.
I would like to be more specific in my response, but I can't listen to One Beat because I'd rather drink paint that buy an S-K album. But a check of the lyrics tell me all I need to know. This is rock?
Take me to the source of chaos let me be the butterfly
oh my, imperfect symmetry has underlying poetry in rhyme
-
Well put Relaxer.
I'll raise a glass of paint with you. What color do you want?
-
Actually, I'd say "Call the Doctor" beats that one. But my favorite is their original, eponomous album released on Chainsaw (as opposed to Kill Rock Stars, where they are now). Nothin' like their original manhating rock from back in the lezzie days...
Also, they're *from* Olympia. They just all live in Portland now.

I was going to make the above clarification as well.
And *I* think the best album is Dig Me Out. Shows how many fabu albums they have, despite the naysayers! [I'll bet Relaxer has some albums I think are wretched....don't we all....]
-
i go:
dig me out
one beat
call the dr
all hands on the bad one
s/t
hot rock
-
Enjoy your paint, losers.
I'd rate the S-K albums:
Dig Me Out
The Hot Rock
One Beat
Call The Doctor
All Hands on the Bad One
S/T

Thanks Jag.
Since it's S-K, we're talking about, it should probably be a sexless, drab shade of brown.
I'll do my own rating.
1. Everything in the history of recorded sound, except Creed and Sleater-Kinney
2. Creed 'Human Clay'
3. Creed 'Weathered'
4. Sleater-Kinney (tie) 'Dig Me Out; The Hot Rock; One Beat; Call The Doctor; All Hands on the Bad One; S/T'
-
So looks like we won't be meeting at the back bar for drinks before or after the S-K show, huh, Relaxer. MAN that bums me out... :p
So what are some of *your* favorite bands?
-
FYI, officially announced, and it's an early show.
Th 22 Sleater-Kinney w/ The Thermals Early Show! 6pm Doors
9:30 Club
-
Am I the only one going to both the Baltimore and DC show?
-
I can't go to both -- too much going on. But I would. It makes perfect sense to me to do so!
Plus, this is just a mini warmup tour, right? I think they'll be back this year.
-
Am I the only one going to both the Baltimore and DC show?
I'm going to the Balto show - I'd go to both except I'll be on a plane to San Fran on the thursday night
-

I went to both last time they swung through, and I have to say that the Bmore show was better... more energy, smaller space, more intimate. BUT there's something about the weeknight drive back to DC from Towson that sucks so much that I can't stomach it any more-- won't go to weeknight bmore shows unless they're not playing DC at all.
bleh, driving.
-
only $16.50 with the service? pretty cheap for a 930 show.
-
I'll be going to the DC show.
-

Really?
I totally didn't see you as someone who would like Sleater-Kinney.
