What a reasonable expectation! :)

I'm going on Friday.

Friday here as well.
-
Friday, too... always nicer to not worry about gettin' up for work the next day. my guess is that the friday show will sell out before the thursday.
opinion: there is one slight advantage to the thursday show - it'll be their first after a break, so everyone will be fresh, voices rested, etc (maybe i'm wrong here?). on the other hand, if there are to be any technical hiccups, one one think they'd happen on the first night and they'd be ironed out on the second.
-
Going away that weekend, so Thursday for me.
-
Performances on the second night are almost always better than the first. Just my own observation from the times I've seen concerts in the same venue on multiple nights.
-
Friday for me...it's all about the ability to sleep in the next morning.
-
I got my ticket for Friday's show!! I'm so excited. I actually found out about MA via a 930 listing back in 98 or so.. and have wanted to see them live ever since!! Tickets cost total $66.50.. with parking ticket. Stupid how you have to buy parking ticket separately and they charge you another $4!!! Oh well.
So very excited!!!!!
-
Friday for me also. I hope The Decemberist sale is as easy.

I wouldn't count on it...

Anyone know who will be in the Massive Attack line-up for this show?

i've seen the info out there... should be googleable (or check out pollstar.com or massiveattack.co.uk)
any clues on the opening act for the washington show?
-
Didn't someone mention a while back that Liz Frasier would NOT be performing on the US tour. I was too thrilled to just find this bit posted on Liz's website:
"Liz Fraser will be touring North America along with Massive Attack as their guest vocalist. More information can be found on Massive Attack's official website or cocteautwinsforums.com"

Thursday....Im leaving Friday for the weekend, so it works
-
Friday for me as well.
-
same here. i've waited this long, so might as well see them as many times as i can!

Ok... Evanescence is sold out but Massive Attack tickets are still available for both nights. I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I fully understand.
Look at the positive side. If it doesn't sell out; which I assume they both will, especially the Friday show; we'll have a little more breathing room. :D

I agree.
However there has been no radio promotion or City Paper advertisement for the MA show like there was for Evanescence. That might explain it.
I hope this show sells out. It might make it more likely Massive Attack will come back next time.
-
the shows did get a nod in the weekend section of yesterday's washington post.
i thought at least the friday show would have sold out by now.
-
If Nickelback or 3 Doors Down played the 9:30 Club it would sell out quickly. You can't compare Massive Attack and Evanescence.
-
Yeah I know. I still think it's sad that bands like the ones you mentioned draw crowds though. I bet a lot of the kids who pay to see them would eat a piece of shit if it was properly marketed to them.

hahahaha. Hey, move to Iran. Maybe the Imams would put you in as Minister of Universal Good Taste in Music and let you execute all those who like bands you don't.

The kids like what gets them laid. Fortunately there are people who go to shows to see good performances, not to take advantage of inebriated girls. If you like getting laid, go see Jimmy Buffett, I hear he's sure thing.

first post of this thread:

looks like we all jumped there gun on this one - two weeks later, and tickets are still available for both nights. wow. such a quality act... and to think that evanescance is sold out (pun intended).
is it the price of this show that's keeping people away? <insert hipster-scenester reply here about how MA doesn't conform with their indie sensibilities>
personal rant: had i known the show wasn't going to sell out immediately, i would have bought my tix at the club box-office... and saved myself SEVENTEEN DOLLARS in fees. that's a 21% mark-up over face. tickets.com might be better than the alternative, but not by much. i'm starting to suspect the difference is mostly political.
-
Where will they be parking their van?

Ditto, but there's never a way to know if a show with a lot of buzz here will sell out fast or not. Oy...what are ya gonna do.
-
If I recall, their single show back in 1998 didn't sell out too far in advance (if at all). They haven't been around since, their fanbase is older and many have perhaps "moved on" or simply don't know what to expect seeing them today, and their genre has been rather lifeless since the late '90's (at least in the US, as far as I know). I think all those are factors in why there was no immediate sell-out. I'd still imagine at least one show sells out, the other sells well, and both shows are great.

Can anyone confirm or deny the rumor that they're filming the two shows at the 9:30 club for the Live DVD they're doing?
My roomate said she just gave someone who claimed to be their manager a permit of some kind for filming it in DC.
