Well the Fort Reno show is free and outdoors.

Apparently the show has been moved from the Fort to the Black Cat, and is no longer free ($12 cover?  I forget).  See the last page of the "Just Announced" topic/thread for more details.

That really sucks.  Does this mean that some of the proceeds for this show are going to Fort Reno?

Thanks for the info about the onsale date!

Defintely.

FYI, When I bought my ticket the other night, the Black Cat ticket person thought there was a fair chance it would sell out.

Thanks for the heads up...I wasn't sure what time to get there, but I'll try to be there earlier if that's the case. It would be cool if they played the song "Doris". That's always a good one.

Several years ago after a Shellac show in Chicago, I asked Steve why they never play Doris live.  He said it wouldn't "come out right" live because it has too many guitar tracks (or some such technical reason).

Not sure if he was BSing me or not.  One would hope audio-electronic technology has progressed somwhat since then.

oh, the techonology is there, been out for a while - it's called "playing along to tape" (i.e. pre-recorded material).  not everyone is willing to do that, as they want their shows to be 100% live.

i don't know this song, but if it truly is complex and a simplified live version wouldn't do it justice - good for them for not serving up an approximation.

or maybe they don't want to play their "hit"...

And please, if you can (and I can't because I have school tomorrow), go out and support Fort Reno tonight.  The stuff that went down this summer really posed a serious problem for the series and I refuse to see it come to an end.  It's one of the best things we have in DC.

Excellent show...I really enjoyed hearing stuff like "Wingwalker" and "Crow" and "A Minute". What was the name of the opening band again? I thought they were pretty solid.

Weston and Albini's banter was pretty good, and of course Trainer saying that the guy who asked what was wrong with his hair was spot on when he said he probably had a beard and tattoos. I enjoyed the new material they played too. Glad to see that they weren't afraid to rock out on the older songs.

Is "The End of Radio" released on anything? Yeah, the entire show was pretty fantastic. I think that beats when I saw them in 1995, and it was WAY better than when then played here in 2002.

end of radio was recorded as a tribute to John Peel and his Peel Sessions. The lovely person here has it available for download.
get it before you, you know, can't any longer.

man, how great is that modern lovers reference?

I know this might be a stupid question, but how do I capture those links and download the tracks to iTunes?

 BRILLIANT songs by the way.

for me, a mac user with a mouse with a right click button, i right click on the link and it says 'open in new window' download link file blah blah blah, i click on the download linked file option then the little download window pops up and it shows up there. then when it's all downloaded i click on it and the window says "open with" sometimes, but usually, it will just open magically in itunes and delightfully stay there.
your mileage may vary, but that's how-a mine works.
