shit, it's the London Live 8. Hopefully they take a cue from Phil Collins and play both the US and the UK shows.

This is a crazy question but does anyone have any ideas about how to get an access pass to the London concerts?  The website says it's the only one requiring access tickets; and none will be allocated for any citizens outside the UK/Channel islands...it would take another lifetime or two to hear all those acts one at a time, and this Pink Floyd announcement  made me put my first-born up for sale on e-bay so I could pay for airline/hotel...but without an access pass, I'm really hesitant to confirm any hotel/airline bookings...???? Ideas?

While this is a glimmer of hope, I don't expect it to be much more than that.... At their age, I don't think they have the will to do world tours and the such. But I guess we have to wait and see.

I am very excited about this. My father raised me on Floyd and they are still my all-time favorite.

They are barely 60, or just shy.  Dylan is 64 and tours endlessly.  The Stones are north of 60.  McCartney is over 60 as well.

I hope Pink Floyd does a retirement funding tour.  I saw them a few times without Waters and they were still excellent.

I'm really hoping for a World Tour.   But in that same thought I'm just hoping they don't kill each other either.   So hopefully we can see them tour again.

i saw waters 5 times in 99/00.  i'd definitely go to a few floyd shows if they did a reunion tour.  i'd probably go to 1 or 2 if they toured again without waters, but i'd go to more with because i figure there'd be less of a chance of them playing any of the post-waters floyd material and less chance of waters/gilmour solo material.

Does this look like the face of a guitarist who wants to go on a world tour?  ;)

A. Pushing this damn pram around all day in my silly cashmere jumper.

 B. Touring the world, taking lots of drugs, and sleeping with strange women, all while making millions of dollars.

 Choices, choices, choices.....

It's called a touring nanny...and they would be able to afford an army of them. I would love to see Pink Floyd, but I know that I would be reluctant to shell out $200 or whatever it will cost to see them. It would be a cool show I'm sure, but at this juncture I'd rather pay that money and see Sleater-Kinney 13 times (yes, their show was that good).

So what disbanded-American band should put aside their differences and play the Philly Live 8 ??

 Grand Funk ?
 Jefferson Airplane?
 Bread?
 Urge Overkill ?
 Smashing Pumpkins?

Wait ... I know, and it's already happened:

 Loggins and Messina

I saw that film in the movie theatre 14 times over the course of 7 days when it first came out back in 197?...it completely ruined Pink Floyd for me.

I was collecting money for charity, and it was back in the day when there was always a support movie on first so we had to go up and down the aisles with the collection box before the main film started.....Live at Pompeii.

If you think the Philly Live8 is weak, check out Rome.  Are you kidding me?  How the hell did EVERYONE end up near London for that date? Still trolling cyberspace for an access pass...no "hits" yet.

From what I can figure out on eBay, the last bid for two tickets to London Live8 is a bit over $18,000.00 for two...and apparently, ole Bob and company think they've figured out how to flag sold tickets from on-site auctions so they'll deny access.  What a load...I think there was an opportunity for the Brit. gov't to encourage a bit of US tourism in what they think will be a slow summer due to exchange rates, but I can find NO hotel with a 'package' deal - even one right across the street from Hyde Park; I even thought Virgin Atlantic would show a little creativity...even contributing a few bucks to the "One" campaign from each sale or something, but NOOOOOOO.????? Makes good 'ole American entrepeneurship (or scam skills) look damned unique!!!  :D

"Geldof also said that people without tickets will be allowed into Hyde Park on the day of the show, reportedly to watch the concert with extra screens and speakers.

"I'm not supposed to talk about this but other people tell me there are arrangements to allow hundreds of thousands more into the park on the day," he said." (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4099482.stm)

it'll probably be similar to the queen's jubilee concert, there were maybe 10-15 huge screens set up around hyde park and maybe 20,000-30,000 people gathered around each of them ... fun show, but more for the atmosphere than music ... mccartney/clapton on "while my guitar gently weeps" was the big-time highlight

A few things worth checking out there.  Too bad MTV will be too busy showing Puffy and Bon Jovi.
