Clicking like mad right at 8:30.
(Still not as close as last time w/ the Black Crowes) ;)

Why can't Oasis get a decent venue in the DC area?
So far, they've had Patriot Center (puke).....Nissan (barf) and now Merriweather (vomit slightly)
-
Where would you like to see them play? They certainly can't go any smaller than the Patriot Center.

DAR would be a good place to see them, but only if you can have a pint while you watch the show.

Got mine....Kasabian and Oasis....man....

Anybody else see Oasis at the old 9:30 for $5? :)

If you're referring to the show at "Radio Music Hall", yeah, I saw that. Man, I couldn't hear for 3 days after that show. Loudest show I've ever seen. It was spectacular.

i saw them in austin for $5 on that first tour. sounded just like the album.

Those are the kind of shows that you'll never see again..kinda like the Coldplay show at 9:30 before the release of ROBTTH.. what a fan-fookin-tastic! show that was...
-
I saw them at Radio City Music Hall as well...That was my first and only Oasis concert....Completely blown away. Still the best show Ive ever seen....

Nope...OLD 9:30 Club, F Street location, October of 1994...5 buckaroos. So many amps on stage you couldn't even see Tony McCarroll, and I was right up front. Noel Gallagher signed my setlist after the show and he was very cool. It was a decent show, but honestly I always thought they were a little stale. They just played the songs with that typical attitude, no warmth, it didn't look like they wanted to be there...it wasn't until they came out with What's the Story and I saw them in Baltimore (Hammerjacks) that I finally got it. From about 1995 to 1997 they were really great live. But the best time I ever saw them was in 1999 when Gem and Andy joined and they did 5 songs at a Christmas festival thing...blew everyone clear off the stage. It's been a while since I've seen them though. I think I'm going to pass on this one though. Be Here Now and Standing on the Shoulder of Giants both were shite...I never bothered with Heathen Chemistry. I'd be curious to hear the new one, but I probably won't buy it.
-
I figured I'd vent that this just didn't work out for me. I knew they were coming around this spring, but didn't really have the funds to buy, figuring there would be a 2nd go around. They're going back to the UK over the summer, and then coming back here when? September, about 2 weeks after I bloody move to London for six months. Go figure, I end up in the UK for six months, but can't see Oasis cuz they're in america. With Kasabian no less. I'm stil mad at Jet for ripping of Iggy. Oh well. Rant over.

Gem and Andy are much better musicians than Bonehead and Guigsy...Extremely tight.
Be Here Now is a great album

What's the difference between the "FLR" and "PIT" sections at Merriweather? I've never heard of "FLR" seats at MPP before. Even the seating chart at Merriweather's website doesn't show "FLR" seats.
-
So what's this about the presale starting at 8:30? I thought it was 10. Oh, well....no hard done. I'm not really much of an Oasis fan - more into JET and Kasabian. Show's a little pricey but we got OK seats (LC, Row HH - well, they ARE seats), we can can rock out during the openers, and drink with the bartenders at the 9:32.
-
The new Oasis single is pretty good....'lyla' or something. Seems they've now gone onto stealing the Stones riffs instead of the Beatles. What Stones song does the start of lyla sound exactly like. It's on the tip of my tongue but can quite nail it.

Be Here Now should have come with a mirror, of course you could always snort coke off the disc too. The inflated sound on that record is pure blow...I read a great book called Britpop: the Fantastic Demise of English Rock and it pretty much blames Be Here Now for killing Britpop. It's a great read, even if you don't like some of the bands it chronicles (Blur, Suede, Elastica, Oasis, etc.)

Noel has admittedly called it "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle". It is over-inflated, ego-maniacal and it just goes too far at times....I agree that an album isnt the place to end each song with 2 minutes of guitar feedback...
If they were to cut 2 minutes off each song, it would be near perfection.

Bunnyman I've read that book and it's fantastic..it ties it all with the British political climate and what not..an excellent and detailed account off all that was Britpop..a must have..
I'll also recommend the best rock novel ever written in my book "Powder" by Kevin Sampson..hilarious from top to bottom..reminds me why I bother with music..
-
Powder is a great book. I can't believe that Kevin Sampson was once a passenger on the Groovy Train when he managed the Farm. The band in the book is somewhat reminiscent of The Verve.

Why is ticketmaster asking me for a password for tix? Does anyone have it? I was already able to buy tix through the Oasis site, just wanted to see how many seats were left. Are they not officially on sale yet?

Just PM'ed you the password...Im not sure of the protocol for these type of things, so forgive me if thats out of line....

is this going to sell out? i don't have tickets, and don't know how worried i should be about getting tickets on the regular sale. i'm not hoping for anything like inside seats, i'd just like to sit on the lawn and see the show from there.

Sorry for the cryptic response, Im doing 10 things at once...
People on this board can elaborate, but I have heard that it is very hard to see and the sound sucks from the lawn.

I thought the lawn sounded very good when I was there last summer. And they have big spanking screens so you can gaze longingly at a 25 foot display of Noel's bleak countenance.
-
Back in the day lawn sucked..I've heard that it has gotten much better though.

I don't care what anyone says, but Be Here Now was a great album.

You'll be fine on the lawn - based on my eyeballs it's a smaller plot of land in comparison to Nissan.
