Title: Iron & Wine covers
Post by: nkotb on March 18, 2004, 02:18:00 pm
Just poking around on Soulseek and came across a cover of Stereolab's Peng! 33 and the Flaming Lips' Waiting For A Superman.  Has anyone else heard these?  The Stereolab cover is surprisingly great (considering how different his style is from theirs).

They also did a cover of The Postal Service, but I forget which song...

The postal service tune they did was the ever popular 'such great heights'.  it's on the postal service ep of that name.  It's also really good.

Iron and Wine also covers a Marshall Tucker Band song on a Starbucks compilation called "Sweethearts" released around Valentine's Day. I never thought I would buy a Starbucks comp...but it also had a Ron Sexsmith cover and i couldn't resist.

Why must we speak of Iron and Wine like it's more than one ugly bearded dude? They're not a band, they're an ugly bearded dude.

I know.  After I posted I realized that I put 'they'.  I don't know why I did that.  I usually try not to.  And he's not THAT ugly.

True enough.  Apparently it's all the rage where all the hipsters are.  Someone needs to update hipster bingo.
