Title: iPod help
Post by: TheNomad on June 13, 2005, 04:07:00 pm
All,

My iTunes has been picking up other people's playlists on my network, some sort of sharing deal.  It appears, however, that I can only listen to these songs, not copy them into my own itunes folder.  Does this sound familiar?

My question, there must be software that will allow me to take these songs to my own itunes.  Anyone know what it is or where I can download it?

 Thanks

I, too, have an Ipod question. I want to buy a friend an Ipod as a present and pre-load it with some tunes, but I'm afraid (I don't own an Ipod so I'm not 100% certain if this is a legit fear) that when she hooks it up to her computer it'll "sync" or whatever and when she doesn't have those albums on her computer it'll delete them off rendering my gesture pointless. This true?

yes unless she sets it to manually manage the ipod rather than auto, it asks the first time but people who arent paying attention can easily miss it and erase everything

Alright, thanks. I'll include a note telling her she has to do that.

Hey Hoya,

The our tunes seems to work except that I can't get the files to play on itunes.  Do you know where the files should be saved to so that they work?

I posted this elsewhere too:  HELP!!! I am exporting a bunch of my CDs to G4 OS X; and onto my iPod.  I just loaded a new CD for Blue Merle and I cannot get the track names/artist info to display in my Library.  I did the "gracenotes" advanced feature step, but still cannot get info to load.  Any ideas?

Is it an original CD or a copy?  If it's a copy there's a possibilty that the tracks were placed on there in the wrong order, or labelled incorrectly initially, in which case it would probably be easiest for you to just get the info from allmusic and enter it manually.

There is also the possibility that the CDDB doesn't have that album on file for some reason.  You'd still need to enter the info manually, and then just upload it to the CDDB so that anyone else with it won't have that problem in the future.

Time consuming, I know, but at least you'll know it's accurate.

Thanks.  It is a new CD, legally purchased, never copied before...released by Island/Def Jam...maybe it rode around in a hot car for too long, and the label id track got wrecked...thanks for the help.  Even manually entered is better than a library with "track 2, track 3" crapola...

I use My Tunes Redux at school to get music from others on the network.
