Most of England is "Americana" these days....in fact, London is now known as "Little New York"

How does power pop end up in the middle of that? [I'm asking, not being a nudge]

I guess they must have looked at my record collection before starting their website.
I think power pop and alt-country are really more or less musical cousins...they both are rooted in the same basic three minute verse chorus verse song structure.

So Lambchop are not alt-country then, phew, thank god for that. I was getting worried about myself.
I think alt country has a much broader spectrum than what you are suggesting.

I'll buy that, as I got into power pop via jangle pop of the late 80s/early 90s, which veers at times into alt.country.

No, that's Bradford and/or Oldham. Manchester would be little Kingston, mon!

I think of Lambshop as an amalgam of styles; indie rock alt-country, and chamber pop.
Their drummer Paul Burch's solo work would be considered alt-country.
