I was robbed at the Black Cat! (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/rnr/27212618.html)
Why do I read this stuff?
Hmm...
-
I think that was all a bit too homoerotic for me. My keyboards sticky.
-
Oh, and now, the follow up posts...
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/rnr/27215735.html] (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/rnr/27215735.html) Sucks you were robbed at the Black Cat, but get a life.

ah, Craigslist.
Could it have happened? probably not, but it's an interesting though, i guess.
-
The most alarming thing is he actually used the bogs at the Black Cat!!! I can't even go in for a #1 let alone a #2....
-
Oh God...that story makes me have an awful flashback to my college days when my friend Whitney used the toilet in the men's room at a Smoking Popes/Jimmy Eat World/Figgs show. We were getting drunk thanks to a friend of mine who worked for EMI...I went to the bathroom and she followed me in (there wasn't anyone in), but she commented that someone had peed on her seat just as some guy walked in. The look on his face was priceless, but the rest of that evening is a blur.

"You know me. Of course you know me. I'm the coolest 19 year old in DC. I'm the guy who makes those deck indie rock compilation CDs for you. I'm creative and artistic! What do I do? Oh, I'm a student. No I don't have a job. Jobs are for saps."
Okay, he proved his premise incorrect right off the bat by using "deck" to describe his mix CDs.
Have to say, I'm happy to (1) not know this guy, and (2) not be in that demographic where I deal wity guys like this....

Apart from the age...I'd say it's markie!

"I'm wearing the hippest stuff, man"
I try real hard not to say man at the end of sentences, man.
": I've got my Von Dutch t-shirt,"
Crap. They already have that shite at Filennes basement. So passe and just a good logo, nothing else.
"my Diesel jeans"
Oh I do have 4 pairs of them
", and that day-glow orange Rocky and Bullwinkle trucker cap from Urban Outfitters"
No trucker caps, or headwear of any kind for me. (Makes my chins look bigger)
". As far as shoes go, only Pumas,"
I normally wear some type of black boot. I hate pumas. If i am going to wear comfy shoes I want to be sure they have been made in a sweatshop. I buy nike.
but I subscribe to that school that a real man shouldn't be that interested in shoes. Only metrosexuals care about shoes.
I sentence about shoes, but he doesnt care about them? this sound more like mark e balls, than mark e smith.
-
I have a pair of Pumas I bought in about 1990 or so. Rarely wear them, they hurt my feet.
Preferred concert shoes are New Balance cross trainers for the comfort factor.
My 21 year old sister-in-law was wearing a $42 Von Dutch trucker hat when we visited at Xmas.
I'll shut up now lest I sound like a metrosexual.
If you take a crap at the Black Cat, you are friggin crazy.
-
My favourite new casual shoes are by 'Merrell'...my goodness they are some comfy s.o.b.'s! You could stand up for days in those bad boys so those are my concert going shoes of choice....when not wearing doc martins of course.

Yeah, he's concerned about having to step on the floor without shoes, but is willing to sit his ass on that toilet seat? Where are the priorities...
On another point, where's the best place to buy Doc Martens around here? I've always gotten them in other cities, but need to do some shopping.
-
Nordstrom Rack.
I recently got a brand new pair on ebay for $52.

Just like these? <img src="http://www.zappos.com/images/w/wHushPup470/27100-d.jpg" alt=" - " />
NICE

Mankie would look like an Aussie Santa Claus. I've got a pair of Merrell's btw. They have a large M on the side and are tan suede. Really comfortable shoes.

Unfortunatley, no place in the US...inferior product over here for some reason. For pricing reasons I would guess.

You know, I believe you. I have a 15 year old pair from London, a 10 year old pair from Ireland, and a 4 year old pair from Madison, Wisconsin. Only the Madison pair had problems; the sole fell out. grrrrrrrrr
Think this means I must travel to Europe!!
-
If you have to get some there is a punk store in Fells point that has a good selection.
Or there is here:
http://www.onlineshoes.com/landing.asp?type=brand&brandid=19&pu=0&pu_fs=0&brand_pu_fs=&adtrack=gaw&term=dr+martens (http://www.onlineshoes.com/landing.asp?type=brand&brandid=19&pu=0&pu_fs=0&brand_pu_fs=&adtrack=gaw&term=dr+martens)
-
Oh yeah, these are like my Madison shoes, but mine were cordovan, which rocks!
;)
-
I thought he was being ironic

Try www.sportsmansguide.com (http://www.sportsmansguide.com)
Not the best selection but if you check frequently you can find some good deals. I've gotten 3 or 4 pair from them, all for less than $50. Plus they don't rip you off too hard on shipping. I'll say again... not consistently the best selection! But since Docs make up such a key part of my footwear closet, I find it's worth checking!

Samantha's right (as usual? heh), it's obviously a put-on... that totally earnest first respondent who replies to the alleged robbery victim by saying "You sound like an overpriveledged, rich-ass, shallow-ass, poser fucker who got what he deserved" comes off looking like an idiot for not recognizing the fact that that's the whole point. It's fake!
Anyway, Black Cat literature has become an internet sub-genre all of its own. For the most disturbing of this genre, check out THIS Craigslist post. You'll never feel entirely comfortable in the Red Room again. (And maybe you'll think twice about fucking someone you meet on Friendster!)

Oh, and so you're not comfortable going to the bathroom at the Black Cat either, check out the (alleged) pornographic adventures of Black Cat bathroom denizens on Friendster (add blackcatbathroom@yahoo.com).

Bad Craigslist Story o' the Day (http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/wdc/27346614.html)

Long Island iced teas at the Front Page? That girl was looking for a baaaaad situation....
Do we believe any of these stories?
And do any of y'all use Craigslist for anything (honest question; a friend got a cool apartment on there...)
