I used to like Neil Young. Now I have to hate him.
That song is on my list of "untouchables"...

That was awesome. Thank you for posting it.

Van, I have to agree the Beatles' music is sacred, and for that reason I usually pay no mind to Beatles cover versions, or even worse, Beatles tribute bands.
But Neil Young is also one of my heroes, and if anyone can come close to doing justice to a well-selected Fabs song, it's Neil. He also did a great job with Imagine.

The Meatmen - 1 Down 3 To Go
Artist: The Meatmen
chapman shot him dead
plugged him in the head
no more slopehead wife to fuck
no more squito bites to suck
lennon's dead hip hip hooray
all his dues he know must pay
gearoge, paul, ringo any day
will be dead we all must pray
a paunched out hippie fart he was
a pot smoking scumbag
bespeckled old scuz
his panface gookin' fuck so me stud
insurance cash all covered in blood
one year later
they paid their respects
prayed for his soul
then went went home & had sex
hipocrytes all of them
the worst kind of drugged out phlegm

awesome. is there anyone else that rocks as hard at the age of 62? with the exception of a handful of free jazz musicians like marshall allen and sam rivers, i think not. as far as guitar squalling goes, neil young is untouched.

I'm clearly in the minority here but that's usual. "A Day in the Life" is easily in my top 5 songs of all time and from "Woke up, got out of bed..." to the end, the rythm of Ringo's briliant drums (a rarity, I know) with Paul's bass line was drowned out by feedback in Neil's cover version. A shame.
So maybe hate was too strong, but I definitely didn't think that version did the second half of that song any justice. Same reason why I don't like this version, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uwvBizKAwc) and I think the intro is sick.

Great video, thanks for the post. That reminded me of Todd Rundgren's cover of Rain, always liked that version:
