Title: Gogol Bordello poster
Post by: El Jefe Design on December 04, 2006, 10:40:00 am
<img src="http://eljefedesign.com/comps/gogol_bordello_1.jpg" alt=" - " />

We got to do a 3 color, 19 x 25 silkscreened poster for Gogol Bordello and the opening bands, Valient Thor and Dan Sartain as they play the 9:30 Club Dec. 19th. Having seen Gogol Bordello a few times, they are always amazing to see; more of a show than a concert. They should not be missed.

We based the poster off their song, Start Wearing Purple, and wanted to capture the energy and attitude with all the swirling patterns and skull accordian.

The poster will NOT be for sale at the show but will be available on our site at El Jefe Design (http://www.eljefedesign.com) as well as the Rock-N-Shop.

That's not a poaster, it's a 'vinyl collectable'.

So buy two and keep one in the original packaging.

Cool poster.   However, itâ??s Valient Thorr not Valiant Thor.  Looking forward to the show.

Ah crap, the manager gave us the wrong spelling. Err... guess who gets to reprint. Er....

Great poster. That's too bad about the spelling mishap. I think a lot of people would buy the stock with the spelling error if you're allowed to sell it. Marking it down wouldn't be strictly necessary but might help move that stock quickly.

These are shipping in Monday to people who order which will provide me with just enough time to fix them. Being the perfectionist I am I want to make sure that you all get the right stuff and that Valient Thorr does not come after me with a large Bowie knife (thanks for having a name that comes up spelled wrong in spell check compared to Valiant Thor which is the right spelling).

I may have a few of the improper ones for sale at the Rock-N-Shop though if you want to swing by. Or not, the paper may be recycle or used for test prints.

The misspelled poster will be the collector's item, so that's the one to buy before El Jefe destroys them. Just like the Inverted Jenny stamp, only more valuable.  :)

So what you are saying is instead of a cheaper poster I should really triple the price? I like how you think kid.

Fixed and done reprinted. Enjoy and thank you for the pointing out of the misspelling.

The link to the Store on your site isn't working for me, for some reason. How much does this poster cost, please?

You have to have pop up windows enabled. If not, please send me a personal email and I will send you the link. Only about 20 of these are being sold so they are very limited quantity.

That's exactly what I was thinking. At least, that's how if usually works with stamps, coins, etc..

I like the more elonganted, shapelier female figure you have here compared to the others.

 Very nice work!

Do you mean this one compared to pinups in general or the other ones I have done? Thank you for the compliment either way.

I already have my El Jefe rarity--I have the Gossip poster that has Comet Gain listed as the opening act. The one he's selling on his web site has Panther as the opener because CG cancelled at the last moment. I actually prefer the version I have because I originally bought the ticket to see Comet Gain and was pissed they cancelled. It's my little form of self-torture. (Although it ended up being a great show with or without the original opener, go Beth Ditto!)

Oh yeah, nice work on the Gogol Bordello poster El Jefe! If I were going I'd definitely buy it, but only the miss-print.  ;)

This is the joy of having to deal with opening bands. I have had one too many pull out at the last minute or have their names sent to me wrong (as in this case). I have thought for awhile of just not doing opening bands anymore but in many cases I really like them so I put up with the hassle.

Please continue to put up with the hassle. I'd say about half the shows I attend at the Black Cat are for the opening acts.

And it makes it nice to look back years later and think "Damn - That was a hell of a lineup."

My wife jokes that she usually does not like the headliners but loves the opening bands. So I do it to keep her happy. We usually spend our meager earnings on their CDs.

In general. It looks like you are getting a better feel for that S curve flow.

Why thank you. You can thank my lovely wife for the training.
