I picked up the new CD, "Hopes & Fears," earlier today at Best Buy (Arlington, VA location). They had tons of copies and they are only $6.99 ($7.30 with tax!). A steal, for a brilliant album!
I've played "Everybody's Changing" in my DJ sets and am convinced it's THE best song of the year - I've been listening to it non-stop!
Sadly, I'll be DJ'ing (doing ATMOSPHERE, ironically) the night they play live in Baltimore. :(
Cheers

I just picked this CD up and yes, it is REALLY good. I highly recommend it.
-
*sobs* why did they have to play the same night as franz?
Did anyone here manage to do both???
-
Are you serious? Where did they play??
-
Never mind...just saw that they played Fletchers. WOW. I wonder if it was any good. I haven't been up there in a long time, but I sure hope they make it back this way. And the North Star in Philly is pretty small as well. That would have been great.

Hi, I'm new to the forum!
I replied to this thread first cuz I just "discovered" Keane and I actually saw Franz F. at 9:30 on June 20th -- omg! there was such a vibe, and the show sold out so fast, it was unbelievable...
Anyway I'm always looking for good music, live shows.. as a teen I listened to The Smiths, The Cure, recently I'm into Belle and Sebastian The Thrills (saw them at IOTA early this year :-), FF, saw StarSailor at 9:30 as well--good stuff, lots of UK types lately hmmmm ! :-)
Anyone else?? Anyone? :-D

as is his wont, john buccigross on espn made a reference to keane in the overnight edition of sportscenter.

You should check out delays at 9:30 club on friday :)

I think that if Starsailor's demographic is 19-25 year old British girls, then Keane must be for 15-20 year old British girls.
-
Oh dear -- well I'm older than both of those demographics --and I'm not ashamed to say I like both of those bands ! I just might check out the Delays as well tonight.. good music aside, there is a certain appeal about young male British musicians to those of us of a female persuasion, I'd venture ;-)
Oh! p.s. are the Delays on after LostProphets after Violent Femmes? Do I have the schedule straight?? thanks..

Didn't it take something like a month to sellout? I agree it was a great show though.
-
FF tix sold out about 2 and a half weeks before the show..

Keane played Fletchers in MD, and what a toss-up, already had FF tix. BUT...I have confirmation from someone on their touring staff, that a show this fall (Probably Sept.) should bring them to D.C. Be on the lookout - all signs are pointing to a 9:30Club show! :)
This will be one not to be missed...kinda like the $10 Coldplay show 2 years ago!
-
Just found this article on Keane, surprisingly on CNN! (If this is old news, sorry in advance - I just found it now, and wanted to share). :)

Stick around - you'll pick up many new music tips on this board. At least generally, there are many members here that have musical tastes that lean in your direction. Check out the "what are you listening to?" thread to start:

Oh, so this kind of thing is a regular occurance with this guy. I rarely watch SC but while it was on today he made an analogy that some outfielder was to the Padres as Isaac Brock is to Modest Mouse. I'd have to say it caught me off guard.

yeah. . .he is pretty much in hiding during the summer (except for random sportscenter appearances), as he hosts espn's hockey coverage (hockey version of baseball tonight). . .and he always throws in a reference to indie rock like that. i think he gets the hockey gig cause he's the only one that can stand barry melrose. :)
