Hi,
The ticketmaster page for the Who show at the Verizon Center mentions a radio presale happening tomorrow. Does anyone happen to know what that is or have a password for it? If so, please PM me.
Thanks

I can't believe people go to concerts at Verizon Center. That's not a concert venue.

are you equally as contemptuous when the Wizards play at DC9?

I most certainly am. :D

If there is a band you want to see and that is where they are playing, then what can you do?
I don't end up going to very many big shows compared to things at the 9:30 or similar venues, but I don't have the same aversion to big shows that many people have. Many of my favorite shows ever have been bigger shows.
I think what matters more than if it is a concert venue is if it offers a decent experience (sight lines, sound, etc.) which I think it does.

It's not an ordinary concert, it's THE WHO :D

WRNR's website has the presale.

I didn't see any presale information on there. Do you have to get on their e-mail list? If an e-mail has already gone out about it, getting on the e-mail list might not do any good.
-
Misread my email from WRNR.
Presale is Thursday at 10 am on Ticketmaster. You need the presale code though.
-
I think they're holding the presale code's hostage at $50.
I've never seen so many complex pricing schemes for a concert before. There are all sorts of package deals and things that cost boatloads. Didn't realize the Who were still so in demand.

i know right?

They make no bones about that fact they're in it for the money, but that they have a great time doing it.
-
You can always try my scheme...last year the Who played at the Verizon Center and I scored a third row ticket in Section 120 the night before the show. I paid a buttload (hey, at least it was face value), but it always seems great last-minute seats get released. And it was worth every dime when they did a bunch of stuff from "Tommy" in the encore.

i know that entwistle screwed them by ODing just a day or two before they went on tour a few years back, but when they just went on, business as usual, that was pretty much it. the dude you were in a band with for 40 years just died, and you can't even pretend that it changes anything? that just killed any suspension of disbelief that it's a money-making venture first, second and third.
-
I understand the gripes about them going on right after Entwistle died, the money-grubbingness of their stupid fanclub for the advance ticket sales, etc., but seeing them last year felt way more like the true spirit of The Who then what I experienced in the 80's (I was old enough to catch their shitty farewell tour in '89 I think).
At least with their fanclub they are giving you the chance to see what tickets you can get and then letting you decide if you think it is worth it. Unlike the Police that sold rediculously expensive fanclub memberships and then gave their fanclub members crappy seats.
Also, Endless Wire is a pretty solid effort for so late in the game for them, I think.
I'm not sure if the show here will be the same way, but waiting until just before the show and getting a cheap ticket off the secondary market might be the way to go for this one. Last year I caught them in London when I was there on business and was able to score an amazing seat outside the venue for half price, though with the exchange rate I guess it was still full price for me.
Does anyone know if the show here last year was at all close to selling out?
-
The pw for the Thursday presale is the first part of a two-word song that ends in "Wizard".
-
Yeah, the show last year was pretty full. I would say about 95% full from what I could tell.

Are they having a great time? They won't even stay in the same hotel....
NY POST--THE Who's upcoming tour is expected to garner the legendary band a cool $100 million, but getting Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey to travel and perform together is turning into a logistical night- mare.
One insider said, "There is a lot of tension and fighting going on right now. Roger is furious with Pete. Pete has been writing all this new material and wants to perform the new stuff, but Roger wants to stick with 'My Generation,' 'Won't Get Fooled Again,' 'Pinball Wizard' and other classics."
Townshend and Daltrey are said not even to be on speaking terms, and have supposedly presented tour operators with a list of demands, including:
* The two rockers must have separate dressing rooms on opposite ends of the hallway.
* There will be no conversation between the two of them either before or after performances. "They will basically show up, play, and leave," the source said.
* They must have separate travel arrangements, separate hotel accommodations, as well as separate staffing.
"They're at each other's throats right now," our insider said, "But considering how much money is on the line, there's 100 million reasons why they need to do this."

That's awesome. Pissed off rock stars can make for great shows. Anyone who saw Jane's Addiction on the '91 Lollapalooza tour can attest to that. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Supposedly some nights on that tour Perry and Dave would walk offstage at the end of the night and just start beating the shit out of each other.
