been a while... off to dig up my "hackers" soundtrack.

Was listening to Halcyon last night...LOVE the video too. I used to play that video back in my bartending days when the bar was nearly empty and guys were trying to hook up. That would usually clear the joint.
-
To clarify, these are songs that you could listen to on repeat on their own. Whether it's hours or days.
-
I like Bear's list.
My 'Favorite Songs' playlist, which I serve up a lot, has a bunch of songs that I can listen to over and over and over, and have. It includes:

Wow...nice list too Relaxer! I've been hooked lately on "Tonight the Sky" by Sun Kil Moon. It's 10 of the most perfect minutes (well...musical minutes) I can think of.

ten I've definitely looped recently- an awkward juxtaposition of old r&b and teenybopper pop:
Ronettes-Do I Love You
NRBQ-Ridin In My Car
Sweet-Teenage Rampage
Slade-Run Runaway
Soul Searchers-Ashleys Roachclip
James & Bobby Purify-Let Love Come Between Us
A Skillz-Sunshine (Roy Ayers)
Little Milton-We Gonna Make It
Upper Crust-You Can't Get Good Help
Handsomeboy Technique-A Walk Across The Rooftops
also, the only track I ever made myself, which was a novelty medley of nrbq melodies done with animal voices: I'm pathetically fascinated that I made a track at all and I can loop it over and over
-
7 seconds- trust

I've had a CD for sometime called "Songs for the Window." It's a mix of songs that I used to listen to in the dark while sitting in a hidden corner of my room growing up. Coldplay - Parachutes
Edie Brickell - Circle
Damien Rice - Blowers Daughter

I have always thought of Supertramp as the Coldplay of the '70s.
-
In college I had an Anthropology 101 professor that played "The Logical Song" for the class and started to cry.

That might be my most disliked song ever. It's just so precious, as is 'Dreamer'.

My History of Rock and Roll professor had a similar moment to Steely Dan's "Reeling in the Years" on the last day of class.

I concur. The hipster backlash against this band and revisionist history regarding that record are overwhelming, but it's one of my very, very favorite disks of the decade.
-
I'd agree it's up there, although Madonna is hands down their peak. Too bad everything after STC has been crap.
