"OMG!! I didn't even know they were playing!! Why was this announced nowhere?!?1ONE!?"
-
dude... it's a day in stocks for you
-
I purchased the last 100 tix last night @ merriweather without service charges for $2,500.00 so as to increase my profit margin on resale. I am the market. I will be reselling them for 45.00 @ and making $14,000,000.
Of course, if the show moves to MCI due to demand, then I will be screwed.

MCI jokes aside, that's a pretty solid business plan.

Someone should present Death Cab for Cutie an award for "Most threads started for a single sell-out show"
-
Except for one hiccup. I purchased a block of 200 tickets right before you (I was wearing the green smock, pink feathered boa, a crown of thorns, and sandals) purposefully leaving 100 tickets behind. I now intend to flood the market, satiating demand and them some, rendering your tickets worthless.
-
What happens to people's tickets if they move to MCI? Do we get first dibs or do we get a refund?

This will not happen. It's an inside joke that's going on this board.

this is rich. speaking of rich, i know this nigerian businessman with a great proposition for you...kidding.
seriously, the MCI people would lose *lots* of money if they hosted a Death Cab for Cutie concert. it was a joke ;-)

You're welcome, because I had half a mind to tell him the tickets would be converted to club level seating at the MCI show.

it's obviously going to be at RFK.

Why is there no service charge at Merriweather, but if you buy from the 9:30 box office, they charge $1 for each ticket?

Death Cab For Cutie: Fall Asylum tour 2005 (may be postponed if Nationals make playoffs)

Because they can....Dunno..good question. 9:30 obviously needs to pay the person selling at the club BOX...the person at Merriweather appears to work for tickets.com or ticketmaster as she was telling me about working at the Baltimore Arena last week on the Rolling Stones show.
and that;s all i have to say about that...

#1: the nats aren't making the playoffs.
#2: dcfc is way bigger than mlb. they'd move the nats game to a college field or something.

Uh, that award would go to Cameron's fella, Justin Timberlake.

I heard the NFL only came into existance as a response to Ben Gibbard's solo side-project All Time Quarterback! It's true, I know a guy who knows Chris Walla, and he said he can retire off the commission checks he gets for every Michael Vick jersey sold alone!!

and since panties will get bunched over this "unadvertised" show selling out, it's at least the second time a show has sold out on the quiet. i believe Fallout Boy was the first.

Yeah, I remember Bags commenting on that.
-
I noticed that the front page says Death Cab for Cutie "on 10/23" is now sold out. I don't think they usually put the date in those little messages. Perhaps a second show is in the works?

I think Bright Eyes was another...
-
Haven't a lot of Sunday shows like Thievery Corporation and Devo ended up w/ a second date? this seems totally possible.
-
that would be phenomenal . . .
the first time i got to see them was when they came last october--what a show . . . but even if they don't add another, if you didn't get tickets just hang out in front that night, there's always people trying to sell (usually at face value . . . i've had to do it because of people that couldn't make the show and such before)
and the new album? so fucking good . . .
-
Maybe they could just move it to The Mall.

I hear that they may bring DC Sessions back to accomodate the DCFC demand. If so...I may be willing to part with some tickets for the right amount of money, was never into the DC Sessions scene after a Cracker incident...
-
the mall wouldn't be as fun though, you see, because i wouldn't have anybody to sip fine wine and enjoy caviar with--as i would in my box seating at the mci center. duh.
and i'm praying to god that death cab adds a saturday date. if they do, can somebody please PM me and let me know? i'll give you free hugs, crack, and a nickel. my other computer is broken and it takes about 20 minutes to load webpages on this one...these boards usually have updates faster than anything; but it's too slow for me to even go to the bands site and find out what the deal is.
that would be amazing, though. i'd hope they would have at least a small amount of pity for die-hard death cab fans that can't even attend school night shows...
-
i was going to buy tickets at 1130 this morning, only to see they'd sold out overnight. this sucks. i also just looked at their schedule, and they're in RI the night before, but there's nothing scheduled that monday after the 930 set. They play in Philly that Tuesday, so if there's another show to be had, it could easily be that Monday night.

the amazing thing is this is true often even MORE for shows that sell out right away. The box office told me nearly all the DCFC sales on Monday were for 10 to 15 tickets -- folks buy up a bunch to be sure they have enough for all of their friends, but then some can't make ikt. That insane Pixies DAR show? I got stuck with 2 tickets 'cuz too many of us were crazed with pre-sale fever...

Do they have a Gap at the Mall? What about American Eagle? I've never been there, I live in Stafford County, but I keep hearing about the National Mall. Is it as big as I hear, bigger than Springfield Mall? It must be big if they are considering moving the show there...
-
gah now im posting twice?! i have no idea what im doing with this thing. sorry.
