I was so tempted to make the trip from germantown down to the club or another outlet this morning to buy 4 for each night and ebay them but couldn't force myself to roll out of bed that early on a day off.

these threads are the reason i keep coming to this message board on a daily basis.  there are enough big bands playing this venue to keep these threads fresh.  
 
 people act like brokers don't have to go through the EXACT same process you do to get tickets through tickets.com.
 
 they're just a lot better than you at it.

The internet has made every Joe Blow with an ISP a wannabe ticket broker.  Hey, if you're enterprising enough to use it to your advantage, more power to ya.  The country was built on free-enterprise.  Keep an eye out though.  There have been a lot of shows I've gotten on eBay for with less than 24 hours to show time and gotten a ticket for below face value.  These guys are speculating.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  Take advantage of a couple of times when it doesn't and you'll be a whole lot less bitter about the times when it does.  Enjoy the show whoever got tickets.  I'll be there Friday.

My only gripe, and I know it's probably useless since Tickets.com is the tiny little shadow trying to keep up with the monster that is Ticketmaster, is that I think if you're going to have clients that are venues that sometimes host high-demand shows such as this one, your shit needs to work when needed.

Who says it wasn't working?
 
 Keep in mind that 9:30 is a small venue compared to some place like Merriweather or Verizon or Patriot Center. So let's say there are 1000 tickets avalable for a show and 5,000-10,000 people want them, if they all try to log-in and buy tickets at exactly 10am when the show goes public, the vast majority of those people are going to be shut out. It's a simple case of availability. You can't sell what you don't have. Had this show been on sale through Ticketmaster nothing would have been different, it still would have been sold out in a matter of a minute or two.

true dat, but TM handles it much better.  none of this "system overloaded, you've lost your order, please try your luck by resubmitting" crap.  i've had several bad experiences with tickets.com where i "lost" my order between screens.  unacceptable.
 
 TM lets you know if you have a ticket, if you are in line to order one (and how many minutes they expect the wait to be), or if there are no tickets left - right away.  they have the server capacity to deal with a huge surge.  ticket.com always has probs during high-demand onsales.  that's my only gripe.  costs are about the same.

Ticketmaster is able to deal with 1,400 online transactions at a time.  I don't know how many transactions Tickets.com handles at one time.  But, they DO tell you with a lot of their sales how long you have to wait in their "Virtual Waiting Room," the same way Ticketmaster tells you, "your request will be filled in approximately 6 minutes."  You haven't been on Ticketmaster enough if you haven't seen the message, "Your order did not go through, sorry for the inconvenience if you've placed an order."  In any case, with TM able to handle 1,400 online transactions at a time, and with less than 1,000 tickets per show for sale - how much of an easier time would you have had getting tickets from them? None.  Don't be so bitter.  Some people got lucky, some didn't.  I tried to get tickets for the Philly Incubus show.  Immediate sold out message.
