Sure is. I used to play poker with Jake in The OC. He's intimidating as hell looking, but couldn't be a nicer guy. Knows his music too - could wax philosophical all night on old school country and folk music and then tie it in to modern stuff. I saw him play once at a small club in SF or OC (don't remember), wasn't my cup of tea really, but the crowd really liked him. Good for him.

i really enjoyed the white buffalo...
didnt enjoy donovan..wasnt expecting a total jam band experience from his set..buts that what i got.

Bravo, but no. It was a hipster club in OC called Detriot Bar (http://www.detroitbar.com). I went in to see someone else, and Jake was opening, backed by a band. Went back the next night and saw Calexico with about 40 other people. Amazing.
I can't believe I just spent a half of an hour to remember that stupid club.

He is a big guy all right - I got a real Johnny Cash vibe from him
