My feeling is that Devotchka's acoustic sound will carry better live than Los Campesino's studio sound.
Opinions on these two conflicting shows??
-
i can't go to either, but i would see devotchka in a heartbeat ... i really like los campesinos, but devotchka puts on an incredible show
-
I've heard nothing but positive reviews of Devotchka's show. Looking forward to it.
-
I won free tickets to see Devotchka tonite. Will report back later.

Go see Devotchka. I wasn't really familiar with most of their material, but it was really great with a full string quartet for alot of the songs.
The opene Basia Bulat was pretty enjoyable too.
-
definitely devotchka....great live band
-
We're headed to the show to see Basia Bulat. I saw her earlier this year at Jammin Java and again at SXSW. A truly impressive set of pipes.
-
Do stay for Devotchka. I'm sure they'll blow your folkie lightweight off the stage.

What's the likelihood of Los Campesinos! selling out the Cat? I'm terrible at predicting these things. I have no idea where they are on the hipster scale. Safe to buy tickets at the door?
-
I would guess they're pretty high on the hipster scale, but I would also guess these two bands are cutting into each others' ticket sales for tonight.
If my anniversary wasn't tomorrow, I'd definitely go to Devotchka. And if Devotchka wasn't playing, I'd consider going to LC.

I've decided to see Devotchka but I know a bunch of peeps going to Los Campesinos. Either will be a great show.
-
it's probably too late to ask, but is Devotchka going to sell out before doors open tonight?
-
No according to this:

I'm shooting for being down there between 8:30 and 9.

oh, thank you so much honey! my sister and her friends are going...she said I could hang out with them, but I have a feeling I'm going to be spending most of the night alone, if anyone wants to meet up.

Pleasure is all mine; happy to be of help. :)

How about some reports on these two shows from those who attended??????
-
I went to Devotchka. One of the best $15 ever spent!
They played from 11:45 thru 1:15 am. The sousaphone player was fun to watch (she had this cute smile on her face!) Very happy with the setlist, though "Dearly Departed" was not played...Great show overall.

Yes Devotchka was great. I knew barely any of the material going in and was still able to have an awesome time which is rare. Theremin was under-utilized, though. Everything sounds better with more theremin. :)
-
Oh yeah...
Basia Bulat's set was very enjoyable too. Really nice voice.
There was a duo who opened that was forgetable. The singer didn't know how to use a mic which began to piss me off by the time they were done.
-
yeah, Devotchka was pretty much amazing.
