so does anybody give a shit? one of america's best indie-folk-pop-psych duos joined by ghost's insanely good guitarist michio kurihara. and they always do incredible covers by bands from can to tim buckley to nico. since 1997, definitely the best post-galaxie 500 outfit.

i went to this. it was very nice. if i ever needed to make a single guitar note really fucking RESONATE, and i could pick one person in the world to make that happen, i'd probably pick michio kurihara. if i ever needed someone to give a really long and nerdy introduction to a song, i'd pick damon. it was a very soothing show. "blue thunder" was quite good. they opened with a song by current "it" girl (lady) vashti bunyan. man is she getting the love these days. good show for a tuesday nite.

booker, ya should've told me you were going. it wouldn't have been too difficult to meet amongst the crowd of 30.
the show was great but not my favorite set of theirs. they played most of the new album, and four covers besides galaxie 500's "blue thunder": vashti bunyan's "winter is blue," tim buckley's "song to the siren," a caetano veloso song-poem, and the jacks' "love" (the encore). also in the encore was "turn of the century."
michio kurihara has been one of my favorite lead guitarists for years. his tone/distortion and style/vibrato is untouchable. i had the pleasure of sitting right in front of his amp.
kurihara was selling his new solo album and a few other items, all japanese imports. i picked up his new band, the stars, which is basically half of white heaven. total acid-fried psych which i listened to three times today.
