BRMC, cause I'll be there. and I'm HOT. or something.

Only slightly biased, but I think you should go to the Twilight Singers show. If you missed them at the Black Cat in November, definitely catch them now before Greg decides to hibernate for another year or so to work on his other 1,000 projects.
Setlist from Sunday's show in ATL:
Setlist:
Strange Fruit
Esta Noche
Teenage Wristband
Twilight Kid
Too Tough To Die
Bird Sings
Decatur St
Love
Annie Mae
Martin Eden
Papillon/If I Were Going
Hyperballad
Black is the Color
----------------------
The Passion of the Christ monologue/Celebration (Kool & the Gang)
Black Love
The Killer/Roses (Outkast)
Layla Coda
----------------------
Somethin' Hot
Don't Fear the Reaper/Uptown Again
Summertime/Faded
-
two VERY good arguments
Samantha is hot
Dulli plays 20 songs.
well, no Debonair? hmmm, i would be extremely disappointed.
looks like a gametime decision. I will be seeing BRMC/Rapture at Coachella.
-
I will be at BMRC/the Rapture. The BMRC site bills this as the Revolver Tour as both bands will be alternately headlining. Since tonight is the first night of the tour, there's no real way to tell who plays when.
I'm glad hurricane season is over (unless you live in Brazil).
-
I saw The Rapture like a month ago. His constant screaming into the mic gets VERY annoying, though the bass lines and the rythms are sick. Danceable, but you will get a headache.
I've seen BRMC many times and usually enjoy them.
I vote for the Twilight Singers, but only because I haven't seen them.
-
I wouldn't miss a BRMC show for anything. I bought my tickets a month ago and spend all my free time staring longingly at them. I couldn't care less about the Rapture. heard some from them, and thought the singer sounded like Robert Smith, but was otherwise boring, so I might just leave early if they're headlining.

lucky tickets....
-
well, i still havent decided. I am leaning toward Twilight Singers, but Recher sounds much better than Fletchers, and its a better place to see a show. but Greg Dulli is the man. I suppose my girlfriend is going to get to decide in the end, and the Twilight Singers we will go. :p
-
I'm going to the brmc show....if they're splitting the headlining, I hope brmc is first cause I might bail on the rapture lol
-
Ok. we have decided to go to the BRMC/Rapture show tonight. I hope its nice!
-
Oops -- for anyone but Sonick! The Twilight Singers show info:
"Doors are 8:00 and the show will probably kick off at 9:00 or so."
-
Am I the only fan of the Rapture who will be at the Recher tonight?
-
I think the Rapture are a great band - especially on record - but the live show has been weak. BRMC, on the other hand, are even better live. Definitely worth seeing if they're just half as good as they were during the hurricaine show.
-
just general impressions.....I was blown away by BRMC, great live show....the rapture, while being better than I thought, still left something to be desired....

Agreed. Originally I thought the vocals were pretty low in the mix for BRMC. Looking back, I realized that was done on purpose. Great show!

Just got in from Baltimore (stayed overnight)...another great Twilight Singers show. It was a tight set, much of the setlist from the ATL show was played, but in a different order. Danced my ass off, ran into someone I knew in college and had a great time overall. Philly, here I come!
-
Well, I pretty much agree too. The Rapture was fun and it was good beats but they are just kind of silly. I didnt know two of them were from Silver Spring, maybe thats why they are so wierd.
Then, there is nothing silly whatsoever about BRMC. I saw them at HFStival in 2002 or 2001 and they were ok, but now they are just kick ass.
very very good show by them and the singer/bassist is very talented, and the girls liked him too :)
my ears are ringing today. (probably because i was 2 feet from the speakers)
-
i'm doomed to never see brmc live :( i managed to miss every area show for the first record and the trend continues. just couldn't face the trip up and back to towson by myself. got more important things to worry about i guess...

Got a problem w/ Silver Spring now?

Damn! I just missed meeting Samantha and Sonick. Oh, well. We'll have to be more organized next time.
Yes, had a blast!!! I noticed that Peter's guitar was out of tune a few times but they mangaged to play right through it and still come off great.
BTW, there were 3 hot men onstage, not just Robert. I'm sure that Samantha will agee with me. :D Okay, so it just happened to be in the set.
-
where were you, sonick? for the first half we were right by the speakers on the right. yes jag all three are hot, except my favourite is Peter. although last night I was more attracted by the guy next to me than the ones on stage :D
was nick the one djing? I should have guessed, he was in the booth most of the night. my bf was loving it.
I didn't get to talk to any of them, which kinda bummed me out. my ex brought robert out to say hi, cause they wouldn't let me backstage with the black X's on my hands for being underage, but then all these fans went up to him for autographs, so literally "hi" is all we got to say. oh well. funny how no one came up to him before the show when he was out in the audience, but afterwards they recognize him. I now wish I had given up my space up front to chat with him. I ended up leaving the front from heat & aching feet anyways. I love how nice they all are to their fans.
we enjoyed the rapture. they had an awesome vibe, got everyone dancing. I've never seen a cowbell rawked out like that.
starlite desperation were good, except all their songs sounded the same. got boring after awhile. they were semi-hot. mick jagger was cute. they had nice butts, which I got a nice view of while sitting on the floor in the back during BRMC.
-
Well, I'm sort of assuming that Nick was deejaying because he was pretty busy at the board after their set and appeared to be the one at the controls.
I did get to talk with Nick and Robert for about a minute each. Made a night that was really already made. Later on I was outside shooting the breeze with my friend when Peter happened to walk by (but a few feet away). We just happened to glance in each other's direction at the same time. He did a double-take and got a big smile on his face, waved to me and softly yelled over "Thanks for coming." <sigh> I love them all.
You know, I find it rather funny that all the journalists (especially the NME) seem to go out of their way to mention how difficult and brooding they are to have to interview. Ironically, all of the fans always make a point of mentioning how nice they are. Maybe that is more telling of music journalists than of the band.
-
I went to the Twilight show. It was okay, nothing compared to the show they did at the black cat a few months back. Greg didn't tell any crazy stories... or even talk for that matter. The last show was also about twice as long. However, they did do the whigs encore, which is why i was there, so i guess that makes up for it... Somethin' Hot, Uptown Again and FADED!

haha, i was right by the speakers on the left! I knew i was in the wrong place, no hot chicks were over there :(

I forgot to mention that I have decided that Baltimore has much more "fun" audiences than DC does. Especially the Black Cat, i just want to smack everyone there. But i think Baltimore is a litle more fun. just me

i always have a good time at shows in balmer. . .fletchers is cool because after the show, you can go to the downstairs bar. . .and if you are staying in balmer overnight, you can get natty-boh to go.

Ding ding DING!
I was at Recher last night to see Adam Green and Phantom Planet. The audience were really into it.
I think the blackcat has better audiences than some other DC clubs though.
-
markie you should have gone to see BRMC.
I rarely go to baltimore, it's sooo far. but I loved the Recher. that was my first time there. (btw, how the fuck do you pronounce it?)
being from virginia, I actually prefer Maryland. more places to go at night and two cities to chose from. not to mention all of my friends live there.
I don't remember if there was a point to me posting a reply. I forgot what I was going to say
