Fo' serious.
Disaster (http://www.fema.gov/kids/media/kidsrap.ra) . . . it can happen anywhere,
But we've got a few tips, so you can be prepared
For floods, tornadoes, or even a 'quake,
You've got to be ready - so your heart don't break.
Disaster prep is your responsibility
And mitigation is important to our agency.
People helping people is what we do
And FEMA is there to help see you through
When disaster strikes, we are at our best
But we're ready all the time, 'cause disasters don't rest.

I still can't believe how between 40% and 50% of the voting population in the US approve this administration.
Many of the non-voting sector have given up due to total disgust of there being no real choices that they feel that truly represent them. Many of them also believe that their vote means nothing whatsoever, especially those in states with heavy membership in one party or the other. In their minds, either plenty others will be there to support their lesser of the two evils choice or completely cancel them out. May not be good thinking but that's just how a lot of people end up thinking.
And then you have those who fall into the trap of believing that because one of the two major parties is completely inept that the other must be good, or at least better. Personally, I believe that one is as bad as the other and that they, in their own much bigger picture ways, are all in this together.
Not to mention, there are a lot of people who are swayed by all of the propaganda, spin and brainwashing out there, again, on both sides.
Finally, it's by human nature that people often just can't admit defeat or give up on who or what they have committed so much faith to. Defeat is a very hard thing to accept and many will often fight tooth and nail to hold onto what they truly believed was for the best. Kind of like the battered spouse who can't leave because they continue to hang onto false love. It's not a simple black or white* matter when you get the psyche and many, many other levels of very complicated issues involved, many of which are covert or not easily recognized.
*Disclaimer: For you PC freaks, this does not at all refer to race.
