Title: Billy Corgan
Post by: palahniukkubrick on January 27, 2004, 10:43:00 pm
Billy Corgan, who previously fronted Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan, has begun work on his first solo album.

"I am excited to work on this music, because for the first time in my life it will be my tunes with no compromises to anyone or anything," Corgan wrote in a posting on his official website. "It's gonna be loud and beautiful and poetic and dumb. Just the way I like it."

And he's evidently starting from scratch: "The good news in this mild confusion is I am starting over from such a fresh perspective that there is nothing to rely on but my good name. I am being honest when I say I am ready for that and love the challenge and relish the mustard. So I come in with no songs but maybe one or two, no lyrics, no band (but a few Santa's helpers lined up), and no dairy ... food is the theme always."

read the second paragraph....I thought that in both Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan he had total control anyway. I guess I'm mistaken.  :)

I'd like to see Jack White kick Billy Coregons ass.

Nah, brah.  In the Pumpkins, he only played drums, bass, guitars and sang in the STUDIO, and hired the rest of the band because they looked like a band he wanted to be in.  Get wit it, Thirst.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman and long-time professional wrestling fan and creative mind Billy Corgan has purchased a minority share of TNA Wrestling, according to a new report from PWInsider.com. Corgan, 49, has been with the company for a little over a year already, working backstage in Creative and Talent Development.

This deal will obviously see Corgan?s decision-making powers within TNA increase dramatically, while Carter retains majority owner.
Other than just being involved with creative, he also made their theme song and I am pretty sure he is the reason one faction of wrestlers come out to a Marilyn Manson song, and the women faction, the Dollhouse, comes out to the ring to Hole's "Doll Parts" (oh yea, Rockstar Spud comes out to a Smashing Pumpkins song...).  Billy, I mean William, has been pretty entertaining when featured as a personality on the show (though thankfully he has been used sparingly...).

Sweet, Billy is now the president of TNA Wrestling and will be running their day to day operations.  Hopefully this does not interfere with a Classic Pumpkins tour!!!!

I love the fact that since he arrived in TNA, some wrestlers use tunes by Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, and Marilyn Manson for their ring entrances.

Sounding like the big tour next year will be a reformed Smashing Pumpkins with James, Darcy and Jimmy. Apparently it's a poorly-kept secret in Chicago.

well its all negotiations.. obviously Corgan will want them on cheap retainers... he's not going to give them an equal cut.. he probably would rather just give them a flat fee per show and treat them as hired hands...

One time I was surprised to find out how much more Eddie Vedder got than the other Pearl Jam guys....but I guess I shouldn't be.... still at least by all accounts they all get percentages

Sometimes I wonder about bands like the Rolling Stones... its hard to imagine CHarlie Watts gets the same as Jagger and Richards...still percentages

I bet Corgan doesn't even want to give them a percentage.. you have to wonder if he ever did.. after all he pretty much did everything...

Oh billy.  Just bring back zwan, and make beautiful music that stunts our mental growth as we listen, again.

one side says, they don't want me . . . the other ones say, we've asked and she doesn't want to.  the peanut internet gallery comments are, that she can't play and still has problems, and that the other girl is better.

By her own text message uploads, they clearly indicated they wanted her on board in some capacity (like coming out for a few songs a night). That said, it was pretty meh of an invite.

It would be nice to have her on the tour but she was always a liability live.

How so? Wasn't Chamberlain the one who got kicked out of the band for ODing and was present when a touring musician died? What's D'Arcy's issue? Mind you, I saw the original 4 plenty of times and never thought there was a problem until I saw them the night before they were in NY and the shit hit the fan. And D'Arcy didn't seem to be the problem at all.

By liability I mean playing-wise. The number of bootlegs where they have to stop songs and restart because of D'arcy would require more fingers and toes than I have to count.

Same. I'm going with a few friends in Philly and it's more out of morbid curiosity than expecting it to be awesome. But we found some relatively cheap good seats and figured what the hell. I wouldn't mind seeing them one last time. The last time I saw them was in 1999 at the 9:30 with Queens of the Stone Age opening.

Despite all their rage, the Smashing Pumpkins tour is not selling very well (https://trib.al/3BtOHB8)
