Markie, you're brilliant. You called this back when the show was announced, and I held out. Now, I think I must not miss the Furs for $13 in an obviously not overrun club.
Woo hoo for me.....
2 for 1 deal in the club's email.
-
Why is it I got an email from the club for Dylan which I have no interest in seeing, but they missed me on the Furs one which I would take advantage of? A-ha! Maybe that's the point. :(

was the same email

???? What pollard said; they're in the same email, mank....
Are you going to the Furs??
-
<sssh> don't tell anyone but mank gets special emails :)
-
I may have to cave-in and go to this one now. It's just too good to pass-up.

On the side of your computer "screen" (the big square thinbg that looks like a small telly), there is a vertical bar with arrows at the top and bottom. Take your "mouse" (it's that oblong thing with the wire coming out the front of it -- it's probably next to your "keyboard" (the rectangular thing with the letters and numbers on it)) and move the mouse until your "cursor" (the arrow that moves about on the screen) is on the down arrow at the bottom right side of your screen. Press the button on the "mouse" a few times and the email should "scroll" down, revealing more of the email.

ohmigod, ggw, I've been laughing for three full minutes....
Skeeter, I have to go now too. And a frickin' Monday show, no less!

When I opened the email I just saw the Dylan plug so deleted it without reading the rest of the email...my loss I suppose. I was going to go at 2for1 but not paying full price when I know some of you will get in for halfers!

If I can manage to catch both Dylan and WSC on Friday, the addition of the Furs will make 6 shows in 5 days!

You dawg! I'm going to the WSC...they'll probably come on really late -- midnight, since it's a Friday? I'll bet you can make it over. I'll be dancing near the back....

You really don't pay attention do you...remember the thread about lefties??
-
If I remembered who on the board is left-handed, it would be time for me to pack it in and look into full time work as a stay-at-home online D&D Master. ;) I'm assuming ggw has a similar attitude...

The difference is bags..GGW knows everything about everything, just ask him.

just to stir it a little more...
the first line in the email reads
"An intimate night with Dylan; SXSW tour diary; 2 for 1 on the Furs; Spinning fool's gold with the Crystal Method "

That's as far as I got....then the attention span was done.
Wish I'd bought a couple of Dylan tics now....I could've made a pretty penny on them.

by the way, I assuming that was twangirls sxsw diary? I am VERY jealous she got to see Alejandro Escovedo but thankfully it looks as if he'll be back on the road later in the year
-
So you're an alt-country fan?

this isn't another Aprils fools joke is it? I like lots of stuff incl alt-country but if you mean Wilco, Old 97s, Alejandro, DBTs etc etc, all these artists have a special place in my heart
-
I'm getting into Alejandro bigtime thanks to XM...may even get the old wallet out and buy a couple cd's.
Wilco live at the BBC has been on twice this week on the XM Cafe....still utter utter shite!
-
mankie
I recommend 13 years and a man under the influence as great places to start with alejandro, others may, of course, disagree

Thank you...duly noted.

Ha....the opener for the Furs is The Pleased....the band that opened for Arthur Lee last year.
Seeing them play was so wierd for some reason. I felt bad for them. But Arhur was so freaking great. I wish he'd come back to town.

Ditto....

Damn, if i had only known...I would have given you a cd.
I had a copy of one of his A Man under the influence, and threw it in the garbage out of boredom.
Also have a copy of "With These Hands", which is a little more listenable, thanks in part to a nice Willie Nelson guest spot.
Alejandro also does some good backing vocals on Whiskeytown's Stranger's Almanac/
All in all though, one of my lesser favorite alt-country guys.

I did that with Interpol after two hours of ownership, only I cast it out the window on the Dulles toll road instead of the garbage.
