i asked if anyone knew WHO the replacement was, not their opinions on them. :D
some article in toronto said it was Panic at the disco, but the site still says Keane, though Keane is definitely out.

Ahhh, what makes you think there will be a replacement? I don't think they have to replace Keane since they are not a headliner...

just figuring since they probably booked a certain amount of bands, that when they had one drop out, they would add another.
plus, its just a nice touch. and they did it in Canada with BSS.

Mew is touring with Kasabian. I think theyd be a perfect fit.

keane was actually a very late addition just as the whole thing was announced...actually held up the ads for a minute...had to really squeeze them onto the bill
looked for a decent replacement, but couldn't find anything that wasn't just to put another band on
so we decided to lengthen everybody's set a bit
I am disappointed about Keane, personally, as I am a fan...but booking somebody pedestrian just to maintain the number of bands went against our whole quality vs quantity concept on this show
so go ahead...now everyone can give me a bunch of shit about being a Keane fan
-
Works for me! Mew would have been a good addition as I'm diggin the album at the moment, however not quite sure how they would translate live as their vocals are so heavily multi-tracked. Hey I like Under The Influence Of Giants so no Keane kidding here...

thanks for responding. i understand your point about not just adding any old band.
but you know this whole quality over quantity is really going to make for some tough decisions on who to see and who to miss. ugh!

I like Keane too. I respect them a lot, was at their Fletchers show. They didn't complain the whole time (including setup and breakdown), even though they were #1 in England at the time. Did a great set too. They knew they would have to pay their dues to make it in the USA.

sorry, i have to post the obvious: all the keane-lovers are now safe to come out of hidding, now that papa hurwitz has said it's ok to do so :)
where are all the keane haters now, huh?
and seth: good decision. plenty of talent already on the bill.

Aren't Keane third rate Coldplay?...

Why? Aren't you part of their target demographic?

Does that mean you also increase the payout to each participating band? You know, since they are now delivering more quantity?

no more than we would cut their pay by adding another band
-
Mew would be a nice replacement... aren't they at Rams Head the night before?

A bunch of my friends in the UK have seen Mew live maybe a year or more ago and and everyone of them have said they are incredible live.
Personally, along the same vein, I'd love to see at the club either Kent or Windermere. But Mew would be good too.
