Title: The Wire
Post by: chaz on September 12, 2006, 02:40:00 pm
Any fans out there?  I had no idea they were bringing the show back for another season until last week.

For those that did watch it, did any of you notice that Dead Meadow song snippet?

I really enjoy the show...Despite the bad rap it gives Baltimore.  Despite most of the shows story lines being straight from the headlines (especially Season 3) the show would lead someone from another region that all there is in Baltimore is ghetto and some docks.  I mean, they couldn't even have the premiere in Baltimore....
But I still watch religiously...on a side note, most of the supporting actors on the show are really cool.  met them at a few events.  the guy who plays carver even showed up to my DJ night at Fletchers.

i love how they try to say that Carcetti is not based on O'Malley.

I mean, one of the reasons O'Malley won the election for Mayor back in the day is because Schmoke got outed for unofficially running places were it was "legal" to do drugs.  Which strongly parallels last season and this season of the wire

Carcettis campaign headquarters was filmed 2 blocks from where I live in Highlandtown.

From David Zurawik in the Baltimore Sun: In a surprise move that will guarantee 125 jobs and pump at least $17.5 million into the local economy next year, HBO will announce today that it is renewing its drama "The Wire" for a fifth season. Even though it attracts only about 1.5 million viewers an episode, TV critics love the Baltimore-based series about urban America, which began its fourth season Sunday night.....
