My friend wants to see Roots. I'll be hanging out at the 9:32 during their set and then digging Wilco.
And then hating the traffic out of Merriweather.
-
ill be there. 6th row.
-
I was there. Row U, reserved section. Reserved as in people who don't applaud or dance much. I got the impression that a lot of the people I was sitting around had never been to a Wilco concert before or any concert at all for many years. I was really wishing I was down in the pit where people seemed to be having a lot of fun....
Anyway, the show started off a little slow, I thought, compared to the 9:30 Club Wilco shows, but it built in intensity throughout the performance. I got the impression that the set list skewed more towards their older material than the recent 9:30 Club performances? But almost 2.5 hours later(!), another great Wilco show.

I heard some of it from the parking lot across from Merriweather. It sounded like a great show. Wish I would've gone!

Yes, definitely a great show, and more older material. The crowd around me was really into the show. Here is a complete setlist:

Shot in the Arm
Break your Heart
War on War
Hell is Chrome
Hummingbird
At Least That's What You Said
Sunken Treasure
Muzzle of Bees
Kamera
Heavy Metal Drummer
Always In Love
I'm The Man Who Loves You
Reservations
Spiders
--------------------------------
Misunderstood
Jesus Etc.
Kingpin
Late Greats
--------------------------------
Monday
Outtasite (outta mind) (She's a Jar on original setlist)
I'm a Wheel
Something in the Air (cover)
I Shall Be Released (cover)

Wilco was great but how about a shout out for The Roots? Damn! They've got Vernon Reid on the road with them for about a month and we lucked out. The man is amazing.

how long did they play?

last night KICKED ASS!
loads of energy in the place...
-
Seems like they played for quite a while - 2 1/2 hours?
I was in the very front and was one of those 'reserved' people. My very first Wilco show, even though I have been listening for a while, and I was completely mesmerized - more by Nels Cline and Glenn Kotche than even Tweedy!
-
you little luckypusses.
i had a ticket and was planning on going; but i was stuck in virginia beach instead.
heard it was great though, and the roots jammed like no others...
-
wxdude, thank you for posting the set list!
It looked like there were at least three individuals who recorded the show. Hopefully one of those recordings will show up at http://bt.etree.org/?search=wilco&cat=0 (http://bt.etree.org/?search=wilco&cat=0) in the next couple of days.

i thought nels stole the show at one of the last 930 gigs ... he's really incredible ...
-
Wasn't able to get to see Wilco at the 9:30 so had to settle for the Meyerhoff and Merriweather. Of course the sound was better at the former but last night's show was great. And Nels IS pretty amazing to watch.
-
Also my first wilco show, after trying to go for many years and failing.
Lawn section. (I'm a cheap bastard)
got what I paid for. Some dude kept shouting out for the roots at all the quiet points of the main set. After a while I started to become concerned for his safety... yet strangely I didn't really care all that much.
Damn good show though.

I liked the show. Lucked out and bought dead center pit tickets a few days prior to the show.
I have never been that close to a band during a show. Its actually a little awkward to be that close. Not complaining, though.
Did they just not put the Loge on sale? That seemed odd. The lawn was fairly full, but the loge was nearly completely vacant.

I had purchased two tix, center section, row W, but when I found out that I was going alone, I ended up snagging a better ticket (row AAA). I didn't find anyone to buy my other two tickets, so those seats were presumably empty.
I agree, it was a little awkward, though I have been in closer proximity in smaller venues. It was a little distracting to have the lights flashing in my eyes all the time & for the camera guy to be running back & forth in front. Regardless, I was just happy to be there.

FYI, two different recordings of the show have been posted.

That is funny. A co-worker of mine just told me how great the show was and how he liked it a lot better then the last show at 9:30 that I got him tickets to. When I asked why he said- "it was great because I had seats in row U and could sit down and just close my eyes while they played. It was a lot better then at the 9:30."
Note to self- don't hook him up with any more tickets.
