I'm expecting two things tonight:
1) a great show
2) a small crowd
-
just bought tickets at the box office over my lunch break
i dont think the crowd will be that small, they have done ok the last couple of times and the album is getting lots of positive reviews
I wasnt planning on going this time until I read about the string quartet
-
I like the Eels, but $25 is a bit steep.
-
E always puts on a great show, and the new album is most excellent. shootenany and souljacker were a bit ho hum, this is more like daisies and, dare i say it, even electro shock blues.
definitely will be there.

I thought souljacker had some great moments, and that tour was fantastic, both the album and tour for shootenanny were ho hum

I'll be home mowing the lawn, eating dinner, watching the first episode of Average Joe, then spending some quality time with my partner.
I like that Railroad Man song he does.
-
I will be home emailing E and telling him to come to Baltimore, as i am in my 5th month of my DC concert protest. :)

Remember they do an encore after the lights come up (usually). So because the lights are up, if you see their sound guy still at the mixing board, they are probably coming back. He might step out for a second, but every time I have seen them they have done this.
Oh, and I am missing this one because tomorrow is Meat Beat Manifesto, and after a 2am night Sunday (Comets on Fire) I can't keep it up.

This go around, Prince's "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" has been in the mix for the "hidden" encore.

Remember a few years ago when he did "Get Your Freak On" ??? That was pretty F'in great ...

E's always had a knack for great covers. My favorites have been "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover" and "16 Tons."

Absolutely brilliant.

agreed a good show.......
wish they had done more encores ........i find that 5 just isn't really enough.....
liked his pj's though..............
-
what a lovely show.
e's always laid on these intricate, elaborate arrangements in the studio, then he takes it on tour and rocks through it all. not this time.
the seats for this show were extra nice, and the russian claymation start, not bad. didn't recognize the first PJ encore song, though. and wish they'd have finished mr. e's beautiful blues.
overall well worth it. solid.

there were seats?

the PJ Encore was Prince - I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
yeah there were seats, wasnt expecting that,we stood
i thought it was better than the shootenanny tour, but not quite as good as the souljacker show, but there were some real great moments
the covers they did (I think this is all of them) were:
Prince
Dylan - Girl From the North Country
The Left Banke - Pretty Ballerina (sounded fantastic)
-
so he played two songs after the house lights went up? the prince cover and what else? if he did... i really enjoyed it last night...
-
Ok this a long shot but does anyone remember the name of the Russian claymation movie? Or even the name of the cute little creature who didn't know what it was?

Very good show. Eventually E and some of the band were seen chilling at the back bar.
