Title: Cool music venues in Houston

Okay folks, here's a pickle for you.  Any places like Black Cat, DC9 or RnR Hotel in Houston?  I've been a few times for work, but neither had the time or company to check out the scene.  A friend is going to be out there for an entire week, and she needs some advice!!

Tell her to check the local alternative weekly. They usually list local music venues. Plus, there's the internets. Pollstar is a good site.

I steered her to Pollstar.  Just wondering if the 9:30 Club music gurus had some specific advice...always best to get a personal recommendation.
