really, really good show.  H&LA suffered slightly from the lack of a male vocalist, but the two ladies who filled in did so very convincingly.  music took a turn for the techno/trance for a short while.  i didn't stop dancing.  they had two drama queens in ridiculous outfits vogueing on either side of the stage... didn't add anything to the show.

best GB show i've seen.  looks like they've figured out what works (strong vocals, rock'n'roll) and what doesn't (studio tricks) in a live setting.  solid from start to finish.  cee lo came across as a great front-man.  their cover of radiohead's "reckoner" kicked.

overall, a great night of music at the club.  might make the low end of my top-10 of the year, most certainly top 10 for the 930.  i wish i wasn't so exhausted from lolla, otherwise i would have been bouncing off the walls.

lots of tickets were on offer outside the club.  in fact, they were going for less than face.

LOLOL I was about to reply to that too... glad you got to it first. My reply was going to be something along the lines of...

 '...really?'

Hell, they fooled me.  If that girl's a tranny, consider me Danny Bonaduce.

Fooled me too; and now I'm trying to find some kind of definitive article that tells me one way or the other, and haven't had any luck.  They're doing really well with their androgynous image.

sorry, i've been spending the last 20 or so minutes trying to get "definitive proof" for callat703 about the gender of nomi ruiz.

anyhow. i loved it...the entire show was solid from start to finish. h&la are a force on stage and just so much energy and fun. everything is executed so so well and even the voguing dancers were entertaining. my guess is they would have been actually on stage dancing if there had been room.

gnarls was great as well. 'reckoner' was obviously a highlight but ending with 'smiley face' was just way too perfect. cee-lo is an adorable and entertaining front man and the back-up band was even fun to watch... especially the guy in the back corner who was spazzing out continuously. i think he was at a different show than i was.

All the definitive proof I needed was seeing up her tiny little skirts from the front row.  If you're going to tuck, you shouldn't wear skirts that short.

Yeah... My wife, who stayed by the back bar because of the crowd, said "I had a nice view" being front and center... but I said to her after the concert (and via SMS) something was up... it just "wasn't right" - I think it was the long legs and strong ankles :-O

Heh, I think my wife is about to do a spit-take ala Crying Game when she reads that link! Thanks...

BTW - Gnarls Barkley = AWESOME - great show and C-Lo was the consummate performer... rock big man, rock!

the band was great and i think the keyboard player may have been on another planet - deserves his own show lol. i dont think i've ever seen someone let loose like that while playing the keys. he was doing sideways splits and at one point it looked like he was doing upward dog with his hands on the keyboard instead of the floor. oh, and his jumping up and down in place while clapping ..... there are no words

h&la was different for me but i did enjoy their show.
