For whatever reason, I've stayed home a lot more this year, but I did see a few I enjoyed. 'The Departed,' 'The Prestige,' 'The Illusionist,' 'United 93,' and 'Borat' were all pretty good.
What flicks (if any) did you like this year?

Flushed Away

Brick - overlooking some of the slang, I loved this movie.

Little Children
The Queen
Little Miss Sunshine

i meant to see recognizing your saints but never got the time. that looked great.

Little Miss Sunshine
The Departed
Snakes on a Plane (just kidding!)
I also liked The Science of Sleep. Not as much as Eternal Sunshine, but now, every time someone does that little "I'm in your way" and you both move in the same direction dance, I laugh.

I think if I had to make a top ten, it would look like this:
1. The Departed
2. Little Miss Sunshine
3. Bobby
4. Thank You for Smoking
5. Last King of Scotland
6. Borat
7. Babel
8. Fast Food Nation
9. Lucky Number Sleven
10. X Men: The Last Stand (I know I'm probably the only one, but I loved it)
Also, Crank was the most surprisingly good movie of the year. Went to see it on a whim and it turned out to be one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
-
I also liked Babel, but it took me a few days to feel that way about it. After I left the theater I felt like I'd been mugged for the past 2 hours.
-
little miss sunshine
borat
thank you for smoking
friends with money
i've pre-ordered little miss sunshine from amazon. i can't can't can't wait to get it. i think it's the only thing that's going to get me through the holidays with my family.
-
49 Up (I'm an Up junkie so this was an Event)
Casino Royale
The Departed
Borat
Little Miss Sunshine
Thank You for Smoking
I hated Brick.
-
Casino Royale was okay, but not great.
-
My brother though the new Bond (who is something like 37 but looks 55) looked like Mr. Roper from Three's Company.

The testicular torture scene was a high point for me. The action sequences were derivative of the first Transporter film. If I was directing I'd give Joyce Dehalfwitt a bit part.

I totally say "Shake and blow" everytime i leave somewhere now. The dialogue was confusing but i still got what was going on. Anywho:
Lucky Number Slevin
A Scanner Darkly
V for Vendetta
Borat
-
I bet you got a hardon during that scene, eh? lol

Brick
Little Children
Lucky Number Slevin
The Departed
Little Miss Sunshine
The Prestige
The Illusionist
Thank you for smoking
Russian Dolls
and I plan on seeing The History Boys this week (if its as good as the play - it will make the list)
-
1. Caché
2. Tsotsi (it wasn't released here until Feb so as far as I am concerned this is a 2006 film [no thanks to jerks at Miramax] )
3. Jesus Camp
4. Little Miss Sunshine
5. For Your Consideration
6. Prairie Home Companion
7. Borat
8. 3 Burials of Melquiades Estrada
9. Wordplay
There's alot I missed, and still need to see, I am behind every year.
-
Any one like Apocalyptico? I thought it was good. Mel really lays on the suffering, and there's nothing subtle about it, but it was good to look at and was pretty thrilling.
-
Poseidon
You, Me and Dupree
Cars
Skeleton Key
Rest Stop
The Lake House
Hostel
Silent Hill
Larry The Cable Guy
-
I just saw MATADOR.
It was way better than Casino Royale With Cheese.

I am surprised several people posted this, I hated it, and I usually like Altman movies.
-
I can tell you the best movie of 2007.
TRANSFORMERS!!!
It could be really really good or really really bad
-
Wow, I think I only saw two movies this year - Clerks II and The Fountain.
I plan on seeing Borat when it's playing at the Arlington Drafthouse, and a bunch of others when they come out on DVD. No votes for Jesus is Magic? That's on my "to see" list...
-
It's crap and unfunny...i wasn't amused.

Why vote for a movie that came out in November 2005?

In no particular order: Borat, The Departed, The Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, Clerks II.
Most surreal movie of year: Happy Feet (and before anyone starts, I had to take my 6 year old to it).

I thought it was great. And I don't care if you think I'm a racist. I only care if you think I'm thin. After all, I was raped by a doctor, which is, you know, so bittersweet for a Jewish Girl. Everybody blames the Jews for killing Christ, and the Jews try to pass it off on the Romans. I'm one of the few people who believes it was the blacks. But still, the best time to have a baby is when you're a black teenager.
