Title: indie singers who could win american idol...

i was sitting at work and instead of doing actual work, i silently debated this topic.  any ideas?
 
 id probably say jens lekman.

Off the top of my head...Neko Case, Jim James, Feist, Rachel Flotard, Shara Worden, Britt Daniel.  But would any of them want to?  Just go ahead and read an interview with Neko when she's asked about American Idol.

Kate Earl. Hands down. Think Kat McPhee but more gorgeous and more talented.

if by indie you mean any independent record label and not just in the rock genre... then my initial vote is for Alice Smith
 
 alot of the less-known singers I can think of would never get very far on ameridol because the are tend to be influenced by rock/pop artists from the  60 and  70s...
