As I recall, last time they were at D.C., they were at Nissan Pavilion. Anyone know if there's a specific reason for them coming to the 9:30 club or did they just want to do a "club" tour?

They want to spread their redundant music once again?

They were at Nissan because they also had another fair sized draw in Counting Crows with them (who were headlining).
I think it's a "want to do clubs, where possible" tour because in Norfolk they're playing ODU's basketball arena ($18.50 tickets, compared to $40).

was actually a joint tour and depending where you were is who opened.
and GGD can, and probably will sell out.. i'll be surprised if they don't. Their fan base is pretty rabid. Of course I've been a closet fan for years and years.

is it just me or are the Goo Goo Dolls really not very good?

"Superstar Car Wash" is one of my favorite records of all time. It really is one of those great rock records that is solid from start to finish, and back then those guys were really influenced by Husker Du and the 'Mats. Commercial, sure...but they even had Westerberg co-write a song. They also got a lot of radio airplay pre-"Name" (in Chicago...WXRT), and I always thought "There You Are" was a great little tune. But the new stuff being released is pretty icky. It's not even the same band, IMO.

Yeah, I know they had a lot of cred early on, but when I finally heard them, I was like, "gah!" Perhaps that explains it.

arent they playing at DAR too, with Silversun Pickups and OKGO?
they must like DC.

You know I don't mind the new stuff, I think Better Days was great before it was overplayed. but they need to keep with one person's songs tho, and ditch the other crap

I spent the latter half of the nineties, my middle and high school years, listening to popular alternative rock radio. Even though I've experienced something of a personal musical Renaissance over the past few years, I still like a lot of bands from that period, including the Goo Goo Dolls. They're not as good as they once were, true, but I still enjoy them. I think that Johnny Rzeznik is a talented and hard-working artist, and one hell of an awesome frontman. I've seen them twice, and he's blown me away both times. So I for one am looking forward to these shows (hopefully I can make them).

That's Snow Patrol, I believe.

as much as i love GGD, i'll pass on going. The price far outweighs my love for them, and I refuse to pay almost as much for just them as I did for CC and them earlier in the year.
