I love stupid questions, and this board is just a wealth of information to answer them all. So lets have a thread were we can ask questions that we're too embarrassed to ask in person.
Why is it when you go to the pharmacy, there could be three pharmacists and no customers but yourself, yet you still have to wait 20-30 minutes for your prescription to be filled? Why can't they just grab your shit off the shelf right there and then?
*NOTE*
They confirm your health insurance before they even take your prescriptions so I'm not buying it that they have to confirm coverage.
-
The real question is, don't you phone your pharmacy orders in advance so you don't have to wait?
If you are waiting, it's because someone smarter than you phoned their order in and it's being filled ahead of your walk in order. When you phone an order in, they inevitably tell you "it will be ready in 20-30 minutes."
-
Okay Mr. Marty McSmartypants....then why are all three pharmacists stood around doing nothing instead of filling in all these phone-in prescriptions you speak of?
-

Because they want to reward the smart people with their drugs faster than the stupid people. Consider it their own brand of "natural" selection...

if everybody in our country became vegetarians and lived off the land with no electricity except for what was generated by solar/wind, and gathered water from rain, planted their own food, established their own forms of small "governments" for and by the people . . . wouldn't we just be invaded and slaughtered by meat eating brutes that live by the futures of money controlled destruction and chaos?

because most people with guns nowadays only know how to shoot each other, and human tastes horrible.

Yes. And we'd deserve it. A better question is would we become Canadians or Mexicans?

How is it legal for Stub Hub to already be selling Kings of Leon tix for the DAR show for $448 each when there hasn't even been a 'Pre-sale'?
And why do they call it a pre-sale? They're still selling the tickets. When I order movie tickets on the internet tubes instead of in-person its still just a sale.

They confirm your account or that you've been there before, but the particular med you need is not confirmed until they input it through the insurance channels. That and I dunno, it takes them that long to count? It's amazing that some pharmacies in the area or notorious for messing up orders and taking forever to fill them. I think you want them to take some time. Have you seen behind the scenes pharmacy stories? :o

Recently I went to a baseball game. This guy behind me spoke loudly on his cell phone a few times; one call lasting 20 minutes. He mostly discussed what he's been up to, his plans for the weekend, their plans for the weekend, nothing pertaining to the moment.
Then, he engaged in a lengthy discussion with the guy who jumped into the empty seat behind me (who also yelled in my ear three times).
Oh, and did I mention the cell phone talker sounded like Ray Romano? (I'm not kidding.)
Maybe my problem is it's been awhile since I've been to game. We're outside obviously, and it's a sporting event. Yelling and camaraderie is expected. It didn't take much to concentrate on the game but I couldn't seem to tune out his loud conversations.
I really thought I was going to go all Denis Leary on ass. I refrained for fear I'd see my face on the big screen getting kicked out.
Stadiums are all spiffed up with all sorts of non-smoking & beer limit rules, what is the etiquette on cell phones and unnecessary talking? Should I have leaned over and asked him to tone it down?

what the scalpers are saying, essentially, is that for that price they'll find you a ticket once they do go on sale. they're taking advantage of people's nervousness and gullibility.
how is it legal for SH to do this? i suspect that they wash their hands of it by saying "we're not selling anything, we're only a communication channel".

That would be a little better if they were 'finding' them for you. But
they (http://www.stubhub.com/kings-of-leon-tickets/kings-of-leon-washington-dar-constitution-hall-11-10-2008-704424/) already have the tickets with Section # and Row.

A similar thing happened to me at a concert. Eventually I turned around and said "shut the hell up, I didn't pay $100 to listen to you." Everyone around me gave me a thatagirl smile except for the talker and my then bf.
My stupid question of the day
I'm working from a coffee shop today and there is a flyer posted on the bboard. Dog Day Festival- Contests and Activities include... bobbing for hot dogs... I'm wondering if this guy just hand me his card because he saw me reading it?

I hate it when girlfriends talk tough/shit to guys because everyone knows damn well if there's going to be a fight, it's going to be between the guy and the boyfriend. The worst beating I ever got was because my girlfriend was talking shit at the Starboard in Dewey, the guy got pissed, I had to defend her, and it turned out dude was Mr. Mortal Kombat and gave me a beatdown that required a summer of hospital drama.
-
Your first mistake is coming to her defense....you should've just said, "Hey she's trash talking not me" and there's no way he's going to beat the crap out of a girl. If he did you simply grab anything you can get your hands on and crush his skull with it. Bar stool, Pitcher, beer glass, heel of your shoe etc.
I was with a date at a hockey game one time and there was a couple sat behind us. The girl jumped up and spilled her beer down the back of my date, who then turned round and threw her beer in her face. Me and other b/f looked at each other, looked at our beers, looked at each other again and just burst out laughing. It could've gone either way really but humour was the best avenue. Besides I didn't fancy fucking with him and he probably felt the same, and with the price of beer in the Capital Centre we weren't about to let it go to waste. As for the girls, we had the obligatory "BITCH - BITCH etc" then they started laughing when they saw us two rolling on the floor and the situation was difused.

because, silly, you HAVE to specify a section and row. for that outrageous price, they're promising you that seat or better, SH allows the seller to provide a better ticket than what was sold.
but i wouldn't expect someone who can't appreciate the brilliance that are the Pittsburgh Penguins to understand something as complicated as a business process :p

i have had friends that cause the same problem. they'd get all tough when i was around. i made it very clear to those people that they were not allowed to start anything that i would have to finish.

Dude! I said I was sorry...
But I still think you could have taken her if we could have gotten the walker away from her. Dangerous stuff.

I understand at live shows, but am curious about sporting event / outdoor protocol. I didn't want anyone to think I was crying in baseball. It still seems out of place, but next time, I'll lean over and say something. I did pay a lot of money for those seats!

Yeah, but then it's bait and switch which is illegal.
FTC Guides Against Bait Advertising (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/guides/baitads-gd.htm)
Speaking of Pens and jacked up prices.
Seems the whining has already started. This Pens blog entry (http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/emptynetters/archive/2008/08/27/capitals-eager-for-your-business.aspx) is humorous on a few levels.
Why would you post this pic of your star player?
<img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3127/2801821213_76ef400fa1.jpg" alt=" - " />
-Love the Pens self-importance ... It's not just the Pens tix that are jacked-up, its just about every team from our old conference. 'The' Capitals event of the city"? More like one of a few highlights, Olie coming back with the Lightning (same night as Kings of Leon), Flyers and Wings are just as high.
-What does Chipotle have to do with anything?
-As a 6 year season ticket holder I have never seen 40% Pens fans at a local game. Loud and obnoxious, yes, but more like 20-25% at the most.
-
Oh, man, are we doing hockey chat already? Great: Penguins are out in the first round of the playoffs. They're a pathetic shell of the middling team they were last year in an improved conference.

I dont know about the etiquette at baseball games, but perhaps this will help.
NYPD Defends Ejecting Sox Fan from Yankee Stadium During "God Bless America"
The NYCLU seems inclined to follow through with last year's promise to sue the Yankees over their policy of confining fans to their seats during the national anthem and "God Bless America," which is played during the seventh inning stretch. Yesterday Red Sox fan Bradford Campeau-Laurion, a Queens resident, told us about his rough ejection from Yankee stadium at the hands of the NYPD after he tried to go to the men's room during the seventh inning's moment of mandatory nationalism Monday night.
Donna Lieberman, Executive Director of the NYCLU, tells CBS 2 that "because they are enforcing a rule of that imposes political correctness through refusing to let somebody go to bathroom while a patriotic song is playing, that violates Constitutional rights." But Michael C. Dorf, a constitutional law professor at Columbia Law School, disagrees; he told the Times last year that â??it doesnâ??t violate the Constitution, because the Yankees are not the government. If they were a municipally owned team, you could have an issue because the team would be a state actor.
A spokesman for Yankee Stadium is referring inquiries to the NYPD and calling it "a police matter." A statement from the NYPD reads, "The officers observed a male standing on his seat, cursing, using inappropriate language and acting in a disorderly manner while reeking of alcohol, and decided to eject him rather than subject others to his offensive behavior."
Campeau-Laurion says that he only had two beers during the game, which he attended with a Yankees season ticket holder who says the police are â?? make sure you're sitting down â?? lying! He tells CBS 2: "That's ridiculous. That's completely false." But until some videotape surfaces, it's their word against the NYPD.

A group should start a conundrum and sing 'This Land is your Land' during 'god bless america'.
Woody would approve.

I thought they always sang 'talk me out to the ball game' during the 7th inning stretch? They used to up at 33rd street hun.

i do consider this a stupid question, because for me it stumps me every time i see it, as if it taunts me to get angry at it with my former frames of mind. but i just sit back and be amazed each friday that i am trapped within it, my car and it's cool/heat/music offerings, my only saving graces.
why is it (now this is about a town where i work, which i see everyday, which is small virginia compared to the dc/northern va towns, but i'm sure the same rule applies there as it does here) that on fridays, everyone appears to have come out from under their perspective rocks to be there, where you are and where you are going, all day and in every way? but only on fridays. as if they exist on mon. through thur. of the work week and only will bring out the kin on the last day before weekend. lunch no matter which restaurant you choose is busier than mon. through thur. normal, the roads are of course a nightmare and not just at "anything past three thirty," 7-11's are so backed up with that one cashier in the stockroom not paying attention to the other register that sometimes you can't get into the parking lot. my partner says that i am mentally incapacitated in the fact that it is simply explained by the point that more people are preparing for the weekend and being excited about this thing going on all day called "friday." the mystical day of the week. somehow i don't buy that it brings people out of the woodwork as if by some ancient native american ritual after the rain was gone which is still holding root to the people.
-
Well, if this helps my wife works a 4 day/10 hours per day work week so is off Fri/Sat/Sun which is what a fair number of companies are doing these days.....maybe there's just more people out and about on Fridays because they're not in work? A lot of people also like to leave work early on Fridays.
-
ever circling skeletal family, i do so enjoy your thread.
new post per question
1. why is religion such a invisible security blanket, respected by nearly all walks of human life? and do other species of animals have religion?
-
2. when people add the question, "how are you doing?" to the basic address of "hello," fully expecting some sort of update, does that symbolize their (who asked) need to latch onto someone else's "more interesting" life?
-
3. if the republicans come at it as republicans, and the democrats come at it as democrats, then how can you solve any of our problems when you are "divided" from the get go?

Coming from a small town I'm guessing that they're living paycheck to paycheck and eagerly awaiting payday, which is of course every Friday there. Come Friday they're sick of staying in and being broke so they live it up for a day or two....then the cycle begins again.
Now that I've moved to the "city" I'm still trapped in the same cycle there's just more money involved and 14 days between paychecks.

I've always wondered why some managers ask you "how's it going?" or "how are you doing" when in reality they're not asking about your wellbeing, they're just asking "how's your work coming along?"
