I would've agreed with this last week, but I listened to it about a dozen times over the weekend and it has REALLY sunk in. Mean, evil beats with lots of hooks and really weird vocals and lyrics. Its good for primary listening as well as background music.

The appeal of Joanna Newsome, however, continues to elude me, and I have really tried.

I find the Hold Steady's album almost completely boring.

I also question how many of these critics how fellate Mastodon actually listen to the thing. Someone dissed The Sword for being overhyped, which is just wrong, when meanwhile, these guys have been put on this unbelievable pedestal for a record that adds nothing to the genre.

Danielson is pretty bad.  I haven't heard Newsom or the Knife yet.

Just because you "find [it] unlistenable," doesn't make it a "critically lauded 2006 album."

Ahh that does say "2006 album." Missed it the first time I read it.

Substitute CYHSY with the hold steady then.

That Gnarls Barkley record, no doubt.  I tried to like it, I swear.  And I think "Wolfmother" is atrocious.

Forgot about Islands. I don't find it unlistenable, but it sounds like a third-rate Arcade Fire, and since I was late to the Funeral party, I'm still inclined to just play that one.

And I've only given Deadboy a couple spins but it hasn't done anything for me yet.

I like the first track on the deadboy album but the rest is garbage.  I don't know why I haven't let it go on LaLa already.

I have a short attention span and can't handle more than 5 minutes of a single song, so I'd say Joanna Newsom.

Arctic Monkeys

Also, I haven't actually heard the Justin Timberlake album, but based on the two singles everyone seems to love, I've surmised it must be the worst piece of trash ever created.
