Ok has anyone actually received an email from Ticketmaster with links to the presale or was this all an elaborate ploy to preorder the new album and make a killing from naive fans? I preordered mine yesterday but have yet to receive a link from Ticketmaster...
-
Where are they playing?
-
I'm through with presale stuff. Not worth it anymore, and I'm certainly not buying anything in advance to get access to a presale. I learned when I got my best Pixies tickets through the general sale. Unless it's going to sell out in a matter of seconds, it's always just worth it to wait.
-
Apparently you have to preorder the album through iTunes to get the password (below was in an email from Ticketmaster I just received):
Unique password gives you access to ticket presale
Pre-order the not-yet-released Depeche Mode album Playing the Angel between September 13-26 on iTunes.
Following your pre-order on iTunes, you will be emailed a unique password from Ticketmaster, giving you access to the Depeche Mode iTunes Ticket Presale at Ticketmaster.com.
Don't miss Depeche Mode's first North American tour in four years. Get access to seats before the general public!
Pre-order now for your special presale password!*
*Passwords will be sent via email by Ticketmaster after your album pre-order. Ticket presales begin 9/20 at 10 AM local time. Don't miss the presale in your city--be sure to check Ticketmaster.com frequently for the latest list of upcoming presales. Presale start dates and times are subject to change. Tickets subject to availability and limited to 4 per password.

Does anyone think DepecheMode will sell out? How quickly should I get my tickets?

Well, they are a super band. It's quite conceivable that they will sell out very quickly. So what do you think of the new Wolf Parade album?

the patriot center? most definite! get them as quick as you can and anyway you can. they should have tried for someplace bigger; i'm sure they could have pulled it off.
-
I don't think I agree with the above statement. I don't think DM will sell out the Patriot Center...my guess is that it will come close (maybe by the day of), but I just don't see it happening. They have a huge fan base in LA, but when they played the Patriot Center back in 1998 I don't think it sold out. It was pretty full, but I don't recall it being sold out.
-
It took a day, but I got the email from Ticketmaster with the link to the presale after preordering the album on the first day. Presale through Ticketmaster starts the 20th of this month.
-
the 20th of this month? crap! on the dm website though, it says something about the presale for the on sale dates that have been announced, but then again, the website gets weird with the updates. i'm not going to worry too much about the whole itunes thing. i talked to my friend who works at hfs and he's pretty sure hfs will have an exclusive pre-sale as well.
-
Checked the Ticketmaster link for presale dates and it has now been moved back a day to the 21st. The pre order dates for the album (and thus to get the presale link) are still the same though - through the 26th.
-
DM? their song "enjoy the silence" now refers to their needing hearing aid batteries. hahahaha
dave gahan used to say "i con't hear you!!!!" alot in concert. now he really CONT hear you! [hearty belly laff]
"everything counts in large amounts" now refers to the huge amount geriatric medicine they take.... ok i'll stop now. [self-depricating laff]
-
Washington DC presale has now been moved to Oct 4th @ 10 am to Oct 7th @ 10 am.

is there any word on the hfs pre-sale for this show?
i was listening last week, and they said they were gonna anounce info on it today. however i haven't been listening.
-
Another question...will this show be general admission like the last time they played? Seth, any idea?
-
not our show
ClearChannel tour
-
Crap. That's too bad, it would have been great to do GA. THanks for the reply.
-
So, did anyone get tix today?
-
I didn't have the password...$75 seats for the main floor too, and it's not even general admission. Clear Channel can blow me. Do we even know if they're going to playing anything from before Music For the Masses?
-
I forgot all about it. Not that it matters, since I wouldn't pay $75 to see them in a place that big. Oh well.
-
Damn, me neither, no password. I don't think they've played anything pre: Music for the Masses for several tours as far as I remember.
-
$75? Ouch!! Were tickets for DM that expensive last time they were in town?

not sure about that one. foo fighters and weezer completely sold out within a week or two, and the new DM album is getting nothing but rave reviews. i remember when green tickets went for sale, there were plenty of tickets, even pit. as soon as the new album dropped place was sold out.
-
I have a DM pre-sale password but I'm not going to use it.
Not really interested in seeing them again...
-
with all the ticketwanker fees, a GA ticket will be $90. i think i'll just wait until closer to the show and buy a cheap ticket off ebay or craig's list. i was expecting tickets to be in the $35-$50 range, not $50-$75.
-
I can't decipher the patriot center seating chart; if they have tix at price level 1 concourse seating, section 114 row B, is that good??
-
Got my tix for $49, section 130, row O.
-
If people who are genuinely interested in seeing the band are going to pass on going to see them because of ticket price, I can guarantee you this won't sell out. 10,000 is the capacity (roughly) for the Patriot Center. That's a lot of DM fans, most of whom are older and probably unaware that they're even going on tour.
-
I agree that $75 clams is a bit steep to hear David Gahan sing live... In the past other than vocals it's been awhole lot more Memorex than Live at Depeche Mode shows. And whiles it's been a very long time since seeing them, aren't DM shows pretty sparse affairs production wise? At least at Erasure shows they add some flair to the show..
-
The Merriweather Post show in 2001 had a packed pavilion and some stragglers on the lawn. So it wasn't empty by ANY means. But still, I don't think I paid more than $40 the last couple of times I saw them, which means that I'm skipping out on the show. I want to see them, but it's a matter of principle. I've seen a lot of bands on tour this year before and for cheaper. I know one man can't make a difference, but unless it's something I'm dying to see, I am going to start being way more selective about what I see because this is b.s. I don't think that (when all is said and done with service charges) that paying nearly $100 a ticket for Depeche Mode or similar bands is OK. If enough people don't go to the shows then maybe someone will get the message. Of course, having a big tour means a lot of gas money, so...that's one factor. But I'm still not convinced that's the reason why ticket prices seem to keep going WAY WAY up.

It's down low (about 7 rows from the floor), but near the back. They're good seats, but not great.

Does anybody know the presale password? Thanks.

I ended up getting mine closer to the stage albeit higher up, for the lower price.
-
it sold out?
-
It certainly appears that way. Who knew! I am stunned about that one.
