?
-
no, its safe, never seen any trouble.
-
I hope not, cause i'll be there tommorrow night.
-
Actually, if you're a suburbanite, the evildoers can smell it on you. I recommend, to avert any possible trouble, to cover yourself in bad cologne to hide the smell of outer burbs. Also, you'll blend in far better in native Polish garb, so some research into ceremonial dress is in order. Furthermore, it scares off potential attackers if you constantly make random signs with your hand, convincing others you are some sort of gang member. But really, if you follow these simple rules, perhaps you will lose only your wallet and not your life en route.

I was mugged when walking home in the suburbs. You're never truly safe anywhere. Always better to travel in a pack, but if you must travel alone, carry some mace and learn yourself some karate moves.
-
5 or 6 years ago I would have been a bit scared to go it alone, but that area is so much better now. Don't worry about it.
-
If this is a safety question and you don't know the neighborhood that well just stay on the major streets - the chances of anything happening directly on 14th or U street are quite small. Since Black Cat and 9:30 are both located on major arteries you can get to either without any problems. On the side streets after dark you have to be more careful.
If this is a shame question about being seen alone while walking to the black cat i wouldn't worry about it either. Just bring something to entertain yourself between sets. Like a rubik's cube. THAT would be cool.
-
Its not bad around there. I have been gone to a few shows alone lately. Actually, I think I was the only one at the Sleepy Jackson show.

From where? If you're walking up from Capitol Hill Lincoln Park area, there may be some hazards along the way. From the metro? No way. U and 14th are major streets gentrifying as we speak...
-
So when are they going to do away with the fat "homeless" guy who sits outside the Black Cat? I hate that fucker. Gentrify his ass out the Landover.

You'll be fine...unless you happen to meet the "Black Cat, Black Cat...penny for the homeless" man.
If you do, run like Ichabod Crane.
-
There's a Starbucks and a Quizno's above the U Street/13th Street exit...the worst that will happen is you could be attacked by some frat boys on their way to get a toasted sub and a Frappucino.

I hope so.

more likely it will be gayboys. or gay fraternity alumni.

the fat homeless black man outside the blackcat, keeps his crate (which he parks his large behind on) in the black cat, they look after it so no nicks it. so complain to the black cat about the unkept gentleman outside explain that you feel sick everytime you see/smell him and that you would like him removed, or give him a penny and tell him to fuck off.

At the old location, he used to hold the door open. Now he just sits. I blame the government.
-
Whom is he bothering? Not me. In fact, on line to get in to the Broken Social Scene show, it was a drunk 20-something white dude who was harrassing the homeless guy..."Dude, you're the man, aren't you? Remember over Christmas, I gave you a fiver?" Slappin' his shoulder and all. Poor homeless guy...
-
Bagster has moved from having a crush on Markie to having a crush on the fat homeless guy.
I bet he eats in nicer restuarants than I do, with all those fivers he collects from the hipstes.

The Black Cat would not let him hold the door open when they moved. At least that's what he told me.

I'm thinking, balls, you don't have any friends, as you assume any friendship or "good word" indicates a crush. Sad for you -- sorry.
-
I don't have any online friends.
I do have a handful of friends; haven't ever felt the need for any more than that. Having a social life has never really interested me that much.
I am thinking that you lack the ability to take a joke about yourself, even if it was a lame (and harmless) one...that's pretty sad, too.

Why do you assume my answer was in anger or hurt or retaliation? None of the above, I assure you -- I thought it was hysterical. Generally I think it's funny how you like to go, "oh, look, a crush 'cuz people get along."

On second thought, 14th St. is littered with the bodies of dead indie scenesters. Keep away at all costs!
-
not dangerous unless they moved it to 14th se and didn't tell me
