Since 1998, Tartan Day has been designated by the US Senate as April 6 each year in recognition of the contribution made by generations of Scots-Americans to the foundation and prosperity of modern America.

new restaurant:
Flying Scotsman
Capitol Hill
233 Second St., NW (Constitution Ave., NW), Washington, DC 20001
202-783-3848
This Scottish-themed dining venue and saloon in the east end of Capitol Hill is named after a legendary steam-powered locomotive that ran between London and Edinburgh; expect the likes of Scotch eggs, fish 'n' chips, lamb shank braised in Guinness stout and a wide variety of whiskeys served in a space outfitted in tartan, dark wood and brass; while it conceptually pays homage to an early-20th-century train, 21st-century accents such as touch-screen games and digital jukeboxes abound.

I saw it once, many years ago, in a pokey little beer store somewhere in NE DC but haven't seen it since.....I prefer Tizer actually, but you can't get that over here either.
