So, who is coming to the very first DC performance of Nethers? Again, to reiterate, this is the Carlsonics with the bass player now taking over lead vocals. Different sound, more poppy. Plus excellent girl fronted pop from Palomar and Eames Era. Check out BigYawn (http://www.bigyawn.net) for some mp3â??s. And a look ahead at some future shows:
Thursday August 4th
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Quarter After
Innaway
Thursday September 15th
Peelander-Z
Kung-Fu Dykes
-
Shit. Well, at least I'll be there.
-
Thursdays are tough. You're competing with Fort Reno. Yeah, it's possible to do both, but I know I'm not always up for that. I'm old.
I'm in for the Peelander show though.

You mean I'm competing with two bands no one has heard of and a band, Del Cielo, that very few folks on this board like? I guess that's true. Course, it could always rain.
-
Yes, that's correct. Your line-up of three bands nobody has heard of is competing with Fort Reno's lineup of three bands nobody has heard of.
The competition is downright exhilarating!!

There's also the fact that your show is $8, while Fort Reno is free.
-
Plus, as to the lack of response, you didn't put in the show information for the Nethers. Is it this week? I know I could go to BigYawn, but I been bery bery busy...
-
and you're competing with Bettie Serveert and The Frauds at Rams Head Live in Baltimore!!!!
-
I'm holding out for the Kung Fu Dykes show. Gimmicky named bands always rule!
-
I just went to the link provided in the first post and listened to the three songs, I think I will make it to the show. Seems like the three bands are very decent.
-
the eames era sound like rilo kiley, or is it just that one song

It's this Thursday 7/7 at DC9, which I also posted in Just Announced.

I have high hopes for the Nethers! See ya there.

Sorry Bags, it is tomorrow night. I guess i just assumed folks knew that. And the weather looks crappy for tomorrow. Which doesn't help attendance at any shows, but especially not at Ft. Reno.
-
I've been wanting to see Palomar for months now. With that said, not sure if I can make it due to the damned living over in the next town issues. Will try to make it but can't make any promises. Hope all goes well.
-
Sorry, I can't make tonight. Hope to be at the next one!
-
I can't make it either. Tonight's the first night I can get to sleep at a normal time. I've finally moved and it was a hellish few days. I promise to be at one coming up, though.
I'm eager to hear how the Nethers are...

Very good show last night, I like DC9 for small shows. The Nethers were excellent, great music. The Eames Band were ok, nothing special, but with a few good songs. Palomar were good as well, I liked the distorsion in some of their songs.

It was very good. The first BY show to actually end up in the black too. Great crowd. Awesome bands. I really liked Eames Era, and it wasn't just cause of their smoking hot lead singer/my girlfriend being out of town, i swear.
The best part was that all the bands were really cool people. Many bands are pricks, or have members who are pricks. These were all straight up cool folks. Happy bout that. Yay for us. See you all in Jonestown.
