Post by: PigIron on March 22, 2005, 11:52:00 pm
2005-05-14
w/ SOCIAL DISTORTION, UNWRITTEN LAW, B IDOL, NY DOLLS, SUM 41, BRAVERY, INTERPOL, MUSE, GARBAGE, & OTHERS TBA     HFStival @ M&T Bank Stadium

I've been in the area for about 10 years, and year after year, crap.  This I might pay for.

well you guys won't have me competing with you for tickets.  nothing i want to see there that's worth seeing in a festival setting.  i won't need to see interpol AGAIN and there's no way billy idol will be as fun as the 2001 show @ 930 was.

So who's with me on poaching Social D, New York Dolls, and Garbage for KSMOfstival?  Add those to bill and the attendence leaps to 4 to 5K.

There will be of course a special pit for the elite 101.

Behind that will be the area for Certified New York Dolls Fans. Automatic disqualification for wearing a baseball cap backwards, wearing any "punk" band t-shirt unless it's a visible worn out Social D one, and visible underwear unless approved by Smackie.

Get pass the clothing restriction and then pass the test.

 1. True or False.  Is Steven Tyler Scarlett Johansson father?  (should eliminate many right away)

 2. Where is Johnny Thunders buried?

 3. Name several bands name checked by Jayne County.

 4. Describe Max's Kansas City?

 5. Is Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music a Masterpiece or Contract Breaker?  (ok trick question)

and on the festival it's self if this is the "official" lineup.  much like the radio station it's self in it's latter days.

it's 1/3 interesting - Social Distortion, New York Dolls, Garage

it's 1/3 mildly amusing - Billy Idol, Unwritten Law, Sum 41

it's 1/3 down right annoying - Interpol, Bravery, Muse.

Well put. The line up could be better for a concert that you're going shell out almost $50 for.

maybe its because its a baltimore station now, that they actually have a decent lineup.

don't you think it has more to do with the fact that they actually have to pay bands to play this festival instead of getting of them for free in return for airplay?  i'm curious as to what other radio festivals look like this spring.

in the end depending on the second stage acts i'd probably go if tickets are available the day of the show.  i'm certainly not going to lose sleep over not attending...

Well so far that sounds about as good as I could possibly imagine an hfestival. I wanna hear personality crisis live one time.

No need to go no matter what the lineup.  I'd pay $50 to go if it could be guranteed that (unlike last year) beer wasn't $6 for bud light, the food wasn't shitty (and expensive as well), and I didnt have to look at other women of ALL sizes in bikini tops, or be begged by teenage boys to buy them said $6 crap beer.

That said, not a terrible lineup.

I've never been to one.  But if I can be assured that I will (1) See women of all sizes in bikini tops, (2) pound down six-dollar bud lites, (3) eat shitty, expensive stadium food, and (4) buy six-dollar bud lites for teenage boys, get me a ticket and gas up the car.

Will anyone there even know who the New York Dolls are? That being said, I would love to see the remaining 2 in the hopes that they would be halfway OK, and Social D is always worth seeing. That's one crazy line-up though.

I saw them up in NY in the fall and they were quite good.  It was just a few days after Arthur Kane passed away so you could tell it was bittersweet for the band as well as some in the crowd.  It was actually quite touching when they played "You Can't Put your Arms Around a Memory" and it's the only time I've ever been at a show where I saw people around me get a little weepy.

I'd love to see the Dolls again but could never brave and hfstival crowd/lineup to do it.

I would pay $20 to see Social Distortion do a club show. I'd pay $10 to see Buster Poindexter play a club show. The others, no way. Though I did see Billy Idol somewhere around 1984 when I was a stupid little teenager.

Keep in mind that the show is in Baltimore, which scores really high on the skank-o-meter.

Not sure where the recent thread is

but FWB is offering BOGO and the seats aren't horrible (just the band selection is)
