MEAT BEAT MANIFESTO!!!! (http://www.brainwashed.com/mbm/meat.html)
Sonar
Wed June 29th
and they have a new album coming out....
-
i most certainly thought this was about Brendan Benson with The White Stripes
-
When they opened for Prodigy in 1998, THAT was one hell of a show.
-
I am so there!
I saw them at the Black Cat way way back and the friggin' place was 1/2 empty. I don't know why.
-
holy crap that is awesome, even awesomer that its at sonar. i am so there. i saw them at the black cat years ago and it was one of the best shows i've been to

But it tastes great. It was my best meal in Scotland.
-
yeah if you think about what haggis is made out of, its not very appetizing, however its really not that bad. it tastes like a spicey meatloaf. the spices are the key, heh.
i think the craziest food item i saw while in scotland was deep fried pizza...hello instant heart attack.
-
Black pudding is just as bad....basically it's a blood clot!
White pudding!!! Just what the 'eff is that?
Oh, lest we forget tripe and elder!
And you wonder why I don't eat meat of any kind.
-
I still remember the meal where I had green beans and carrots. The only differentiating feature was the colour. They had the same taste (salt), texture (mush), and size (pinkie). Close your eyes and you could not say which you were eating.

uhhh
so the new album
is fucking horrible.
has made me think twice about going to the show. the new album sounds like electro-lounge-dub with flutes and clarinets thrown in very now and then..and some long samples. no vocals at all...very chill....not a MBM album at all. extremely disappointed.
-
So is it not the show of the year anymore?

yeah, I downloaded some of it, and i just dunno. I have decided to skip a couple shows lately so i may still pop in, just for old times sake.
-
The new album shouldn't have been that big of a surprise, as it is kind of where he's been heading...just listen to 'RUOK?'. Also, the latest album was part of Thirsty Ear's Blue Series (from the TE website: "The concept of the Blue Series was born from Thirsty Ear's desire to marry jazz's many languages into a cogent new one and perhaps shake up what was, and to a certain extent still is, a stagnant musical climate.") That being said, I'm certainly hoping to hear 99% and older stuff, too. I read that since it has been so long since MBM has toured, that this tour may be somewhat of a 'greatest hits' show..so hopefully we'll be hearing lots of old stuff. The Black Cat show was *excellent* (swore I'd never miss 'em when they came back around) and I have high hopes for this one as well.

ok, that does it, I am there.
-
i suppose it would be too much to ask for some stuff from Armed Audio Warfare....hmmmmm.
now that i think of it, i REFUSE to believe they will be disappointing. they just cant be, they just wont be.
I am picking them over Ted Leo/Pharmacists. and thats final.

"i suppose it would be too much to ask for some stuff from Armed Audio Warfare"
I think ill put in that cd right now....
-
Well, after kiling way too much time on the tour board, I am completely psyched for the show. Very happy to read that they are playing for about 2.5 hours. Going to make for an incredible, but late night...
-
I have a ticket, I have a ticket. I was so pissed they last toured opening for The Prodogy so I couldn't get in (sold out way too fast and not worth the cramming to get in). This should be great, I AM ELECTRO!
PS-> I love in dub, the DVD is the way to watch.
-
ooooookay that setlist looks pretty pimp....guess i will have to go
-
That show was rockin'. had a great time. Anyone else there? 'hello teenage america' was amazing.
-
My only complaint was "Prime Audio Soup" did not have the sub bass for quite a while. It was weird to me because having that bass kick in is what sets the song off, so having a verse without it was just odd.
He did have his old synths with him, so it was not all DAT or computers. I was suprised to see so many of his samples are with video.
-
I'm utterly disappointed. I thought from the subject line the event would be "'Rhett Fights a Lion to the Death!', Live at MCI Center" or something of that ilk.
-
i was expecting some crappy bitch band taht i haven't heard or heard and thought was boring and horrible...
i was right...
-
or completelty wrong. so very wrong.

thats because they came out before you were born, little man....
and the show was very cool. well well worth $15!
-
Excellent show. I agree that seeing the videos mixed along with the music definitely was an eye-opener as to how much is sampled in MBM's music. I mean, I knew that there were a lot of samples, but not to that extent and how they are layered and such. Very entertaining. Had to love the Bush/Inbred video mixes during 'Nuclear Bomb'!
-
Movies I caught in the videos:
Videodrome (especially the lips)
Body Snatchers
Scanners
Deliverance
The Russ Meyers Collection
Full Metal Jacket
and I forget many of the others...
