Title: Sigur Ros?
Post by: root on July 11, 2005, 10:53:00 am
Anyone pick up pre-sale tix for the 9/11 show @ the Strathmore in Bethesda?

Looks to be an amazing show!

Guess too many people were falling asleep at their shows...

In a recent interview, keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson said they are making the sound of their new album ??more solid.? He explained: ??We are aiming for a Korn and Papa Roach kind of thing."

Same here as well.  I called Strathmore to see if they had any info about location of pre-sale seats, but none was available when I called.  It'll make me crazy if I don't know where the seats are until I have the tix in hand, but hoping for the best!

I'd like to go but...

  - $40!!!!
  - Strathmore is nice, and in good location for me (just down the street actually) but not a great place for Sigur Ros methinks.
  - Korn and Papa Roach? And they want fewer people falling asleep?
  - $40!!!!

On sale now (http://www.strathmore.org/eventstickets/calendar/view.asp?id=1015)

Of the sections still available, anyone know which one is best?

OK, so the pre-sale site couldn't give out seat information, right?

Well, I just picked up my tickets tonight and they are second row center-ish...so hopefully others who bought pre-sales don't have anything to worry about either.

   :)

falling asleep at a Sigur Ros show is like falling asleep in your car overnight on the side of the highway in a blizzard.

I am fairly certain that they are touring with Amina (the strings) again, but I am not positive about that.

i really dont see how either of those two shows are going to be the party of the weekend.

Z-Trip is less of a DJ than Fatboy Slim.

if i want to hear AC/DC mixed with the Sugar Hill Gang.......wait, why the HELL would i want to do that?????????

I'll be seeing Idlewild at the Funk Box that weekend...

perhaps, but i've seen both fatboy slim and z-trip at 9:30 club ... fatboy slim's "journey into africa" certainly opened my mind to various evolution theories, but didn't quite blow up the joint

on the other hand, i have never seen the club bouncing like z-trip had it going ... mashups be damned, the man can throw a party

Yes, I am pretty sure they will be with them. They have been opening and then joining them during the previous tour dates.

I went to a buzzlife event last summer and DJ Icey was spinning (opening for Infected Mushroom) and he was alot of fun. One of the better live DJs I've seen.

Hey, it was alot of fun, and it was a crowd that wsan't even there for him. He might not be a top level big name DJ like Sasha, tiesto, or van buren but he's not mock-worthy.

Although, I will say Energy Traxx Vol. 1 and Encylopedia Funktanica are CLASSIC records! I still have 2 copies of each, but keep that man away from the decks!  ;)
