I heard the news that Radiohead is coming to DC this summer. But I also heard a rumor that they were going to be playing at Nissan Pavilion (gag). Can anyone confirm this? I really don't want to have to sit in traffic at Nissan.
-
Probably a bunk rumor given that Nissan isn't very public transportation-accessible.
-
Check the last few pages of the Just Announced (http://www.930.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004729) thread and the Holy Crap Radiohead has a new Album (http://www.930.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=016249) thread. There's plenty of specualtion in those threads.

So far, odds are on Verizon in May.
-
I'd rather hop a plane to anywhere than trek to Nissan to see Radiohead. The last time I went there it took 3 hours (2 of which were the last mile). PLEASE tell me they're playing Merriweather, or any where else in D.C. Not Nissan, please!
-
I sat in traffic to get into Nissan and to get out of Nissan. Ugh.

As much as I hate to say it, an arena is a good move for them. Battling for tickets at a small theatre is a difficult chore. Although I was in the front row at their Philly show last year ;) Thank you W.A.S.T.E!

Radiohead at the Virgin Festival would be perfect. But if we can't have that, let it be Merriweather. Anything but Nissan. John and George would have to come back from the dead and reunite the Beatles for me to go back to Nissan.

no it wouldn't.
i had no problems getting good tickets for any of the radiohead shows i've tried to get tickets for from the three tours... and i've gotten tickets for a minimum of three shows in 01/03/06.

How about a 7-year annivesary of Bull Run? Ah, those were the days!
-
Was that really SEVEN years ago? I will never forget entering that place to see how perfect a show we were about to witness before the waterfall started...
that was a bad day.
-
what about RFK?
-
Terrible place to see a baseball game, even worse for a concert.

There should definitely be some sort of Bull Run veterans association. I'll never forget Thatguy coming out to announce that the show had been canceled and stripped off his shirt to look badass and keep people from having any kind of riot. Of course, that didn't stop some joker from slip and sliding right past him a few seconds later (at least I think that's what happened, it has been 7 years).
-
must have been nice to have gotten in.
i was stuck in traffic. it took us about 4 hours to get there when it normally would have taken less than 1.5.
-
Fortunately I was spared since I was supposed to go the second day, but I remember that downpour, it was unreal. Yeah, 7 years ago...good times.
-
Be glad you didn't get in. It is still depressing to think about what an unbelieveable show that would've been.
-
I've heard of reviewing shows you weren't at.
But reviewing shows that didn't happen; that takes the cake.

Let's just say that for those of us that got there at 10 am in the 90 degree heat w/ people being carted away for sunstroke at the rate of about 2-3 every hour followed by monsoon-style rain that created a lake nearly waist deep in places where all of us parked, irony doesn't even begin to describe it.
-
there are four fucking ways to get into nissan; learn the back ways and quit bitching about how to get there you pansy fucking city slickers.
-
But its RADIOHEAD!!!!!!OMG!!!
Really, Thom Yorke could just take a shit on stage and people would think it was rapturous.

Yeah, it was almost as hypothetically awesome as the Decemberists' long & short of it tour.

what's worse - radiohead is so big that thom could take a shit and it's rapture . . . or the fact that they're so big and you care what they do or don't do.

Millie Jackson taking a dump on stage, now THAT would be rapturous. Just imagine...the tour could be sponsored by Glade and Charmin, and her roadies will leave rolls of toilet paper out for her. Now that would be a show.
-
Seeing Radiohead (as well as Thievery Corporation) in what was really a glorified park would've been amazing, having seen them at Merriweather and Coachella. Just because it didn't actually happen doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on it...
-
Why do people feel it necessary to sway people to not go? Yeah, state your opinion, but no one wants to hear you fuckers whine about how much a venue sucks. I'm still gonna go, others will, others won't.
Jesus Christ! Relax people!

It doesn't look so much to me that anyone is trying to "sway" people not to go as much as just voice their dislike for Nissan and the traffic issues surrounding the place. I for one tend to agree with most of the posters here that it would have to be something so incredibly worth while to get me to sit in that traffic wasting gas outside of Nissan. Personally I'd love to see Radiohead, but not enough to go to Nissan. For others it may be worth it, just not for me.

I saw them at Merriweather a few years ago. It was amazing. Not the show itself but something they did AT the show. They performed something really, really weird. Not like anything else they did that night. I believe it was called a "tune." I think it was called "Creep."

i took my shirt off long before i announced that the show was canceled, and because it was wet. it had nothing to do with badassitude. if it helped stop a riot, so be it.

We were all wet, some of us more than others.

i seem to recall "some of us" ending up underwater in the race to stop the rush at the main gates. one of us almost ran over some of us with his jeep when some of us disappeared into the flood.

why didn't this float to the top?
