I remember 2-3 months back someone posted about a pair of Ipod-earbud-esque (they were white, fit in the ear) headphones that everyone in the thread raved about. They were ~$100, but the article the person posted had a link for them for like $70. Does anyone remember the model I'm talking about (or if GGW can avoid the bus, could he find the thread itself)? Any help appreciated since I'd be in the market for something like that.

etymotics are the expensive headphones.

i agree on the sony ones
and i would like to take a poll on whether or not canker should use www.tinyurl.com (http://www.tinyurl.com)

Actually I have turned about ten people on to those sonys. Everyone likes them. Even my crazy wife who said they would not work as she had irregular shaped ear canals and that earbud headphones were never comfortable.

I have a pair of Etymotic ER-4P earphones. They are definitely expensive, but if you use earphones a lot, I think they are worth it. They block almost all outside noise, and have great great sound. I hear things in music that I have never heard in 10+ years of listening. I use the foam plugs rather than the flanged rubber ones as I find them much more comfy. Do not order them directly from Etymotic or else they are really outrageously expensive...you can hunt around and find them for at least $100 cheaper than the Ety list price.

i'm looking for a new pair of headphones also, but not of the earbud style can't stand they way the feel...
what i am looking for is a pair like the old Senniheisers that had the yellow foam for protection. Most of the traditional headphones sold these days are the around the ear type which I can't stand wearing for length periods of time. Any recommendations on on the ear type headphones that lightweight?

The Shure (http://www.shure.com/psm/earphones/default.asp#e3) earphones have also been getting some love:

Have you tried eBay (http://search.ebay.com/sennheiser-headphones_W0QQfromZR8QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQssPageNameZWLRS)?

Hmmm, I have the same complaints (not the funny shaped ear canal, but earbuds always bug me or they fall out), but maybe I should give these a try.
-
i looked at the new senniheisers but none of them appear to be of this sytle.
<img src="http://www.micropop.net/hd.jpg" alt=" - " />

these fall out
<img src="http://www.apple.com/pr/images/ref_03ipod_buds.jpg" alt=" - " />
i dont think these will for most people, the sony ones come with different size buds
<img src="http://www.radioshack.com/images/ProductCatalog/ProductImage/33/33-1233.jpg" alt=" - " />
and the cheapest way to get replacement buds i have found is by getting these

I also have those Sonys and love them. I gave them to my sister for christmas (she's a runner) and she loves them too.
-
...and for those looking for incredibly expensive earphones, and who have hard to fit ears, there's the Sensaphonics Pro-Phonic soft 2X from www.sensaphonics.com. (http://www.sensaphonics.com.) These are custom made/fitted and people will think you're a rock star...and maybe you ARE!!!

Kosmo...try a set of Grados http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/grado-sr-60.php (http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/grado-sr-60.php)
They make you look like a WWII radio operator (but I rather like the old school look) but these things sound great. My only complaints would be that the cord is a little longer than i'd like they're a great pair of cans.
If you're dying for some Sennheisers, try these -http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/sennheiser-px-100.php
I've never listened to them but people love 'em.
-
i saw your recommendation on these in the old thread ggw unearthed for us... do they sit or cup your ears and how heavy are they? these were also recommended on another forum.
-
These are pretty comfy and sit on your ears rather than cupping them so to speak. They don't block out much external noise and their open design tends to share your music with your neighbors more than most phones.
If comfort and portability are major factors I'd say go with the senns I posted....they are highly recommended everywhere I look. But I'd have a hard time imagining them sounding as good as the grado's.
-
These would be beast:

Do they shave you at the same time?

hmmm not something i would want to leave at my desk...
will have to look into the grado's, i'm not really concerned about sound leakage as will be using them at work were i tend to listen to things a very low volume anyways. i have a pair of sony noise cancelling headphones which make my ears feel hot after awhile and feel heavy.
-
I have a set of the Sennheiser HD555's (http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/all-headphones/sennheiser-hd-555.php) and I honestly believe that they are the best headphones I've ever owned. I've had them on my head every day at work for 6-8 hours a day over the last year and have never once found them uncomfortable or grown tired of the sound. The one problem with them is that they're not very portable, so you should look elsewhere if that's what you need. I very much like the Etymotic ER6i's for those purposes.
-
Is there really any significant difference between the ER6 and the ER6i other than the ER6i are white?

i think there's some small difference that makes them "better", but i'm not a big headphone geek so i couldn't say

The ER6i phones are lower impedance (16 Ohm vs 50 Ohm) and are supposed to have a better low-end response. The lower impedance makes them better for MP3 players and other portable devices because less power is required to produce louder sounds.

I was offered a pair of Logitech Bluetooth Wireless Headphones (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2439,CONTENTID=10540&ad=AMR_wipod) for the iPod to beta test, but alas I don't have an "iPod" so I passed.
I thought it would be cool to have a pair to attempt to pinch what other folks were listening to though.

i thought this thread was going to be about pedro the lion's fantastically electronic side project...damn...

Are Beats worth it at half price?

So they are Bluetooth, but for the life of me I can't tell which version of Bluetooth...as that makes a big difference
I'd go to the store and try them out
-
Yes, they probably are. Shame they weren't half off when my Bose headphones died.
