Never heard of The Exies or Kings of Leon.
Music is going to be shit in 2003.

Don't have MTV so I don't know what's going on there but I do have a couple songs by The Ravenettes. They are okay. Nothing to start a thread on. Pure filler and not the best. Hopefully, they have, or will have better material than what I've heard.

They opened for Fountains of Wayne awhile back. We got there late, so missed them. They're getting quite a bit of play on KEXP. They're decent, but nothing that's going to make me pee my pants for the next 10 years.

quote:
Originally posted by Jaguär:
Don't have MTV so I don't know what's going on there but I do have a couple songs by The Ravenettes. I haven't peed my pants for an album since Alice in Chains released that ep Sap. That was a risk that really paid off.

What pissed me off most about the "10 bands to watch" or something was when they said that Sparta wasn't a 'hit' last year. are they measuring that solely on album sales or what? errr

should have been ...

quote:
Originally posted by paige:
these past 10-15 years of past issues of Rolling Stone weren't too great.

A.F.I. signed to Dreamworks, I guess that's why they're considered new to the mainstream. I don't like their new stuff, I was cool with them being a Misfits rehash, but now they're all goth, and davey goes for that Dani Filth look. they sell big, mall punk. I'm pretty sure a lot of the 'new' bands are gonna be hardcore bands watering themselves down for the mainstream, like thursday, poison the well, from autumn to ashes, cave in. We'll see.

Isn't this the same publication that mentioned Seether, Audioslave, and Chevelle in their "bands to watch" in the past. I'm not sure because that issue found the circular file shortly after it made it in the front door.... just like the current issue. I figure at something like a quarter an issue its worth it to keep the subscription as opposed to wasting the time and cancelling.
