Anyone going tonight?
Honestly, with this description, how does anyone NOT want to see this???
"In "Death Proof," a psycho named Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) stalks and kills beautiful women with his car. In "Planet Terror," a small-town sheriffs' department has to deal with an outbreak of murderous, infected people called "sickos." A gun-legged woman named Cherry (Rose McGowan) and her martial arts-wielding partner (Freddy Rodriguez) take on the zombie army."
-
I'll definitely be seeing it, but it'll be sometime next week, unfortunately.
-
I want to see this one as well, me dig Robert Rodriguez, not so much QT and his ego... the double feature along with the fake trailers is gonna be killer. Gonna see this one sans Kosmette...
-
I'd see it, though the scene with Quentin in the elevator is bad acting.
-
Haha...my wife, who is not a fan of gore, zombies, or absurd action (why did I marry her???) just read the Post review. Needless to say, she's not looking forward to tonight.

speaking of zombie movies... anyone seen the trailer or ad for the new movie "Hot Fuzz" from the creators of shaun of the dead? It looks freakin' hilarious...
-
Yeah, it looks great. I won passes to a free screening at the Cinema Draft House a few weeks ago but I already had plans for that evening and couldn't go. The poster alone kills me:

The movie gets a 78 on metacritic and 87% (73 fresh and 11 rotten) on rottentomatoes.com

Next 3 weeks are awesome for movies. This week is Grindhouse(Leaving for it in about an hour), next week is Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters, and the week after that is Hot Fuzz. And all of this right after the amazing 300. This is shaping up to be a great movie month.
-
Saw it at the Senator this afternoon. It was a blast! The coming attractions were outstanding! If only someone would make "Machete."
-
I believe Robert Rodriguez is actually developing a full length Machete.
-
Hell, yeah. I'm seeing it at the Uptown tonight.
-
i am not interested.

I've been looking forward to Grindhouse[/b] for months. Probably more like a year or so, actually. I'm not usually one to rush out and see movies right away, though, no matter how much I want to see them (though there have been exceptions). I only just saw 300 the other night, and I'd really been looking forward to that one. I'll probably see Grindhouse sometime this weekend. Sunday sounds good.

Pathfinder[/i] is also coming out next week.

I'd rather see Thanksgiving, but Machete is a close second.

First, the good news. The trailers were incredible, and I agree with anyone that wanted to see full-length versions of any of them. Granted, "Don't" was a bit of a joke (and a hilarious one at that!), but "Thanksgiving" and "Machete" were incredible. Hell, I'd be psyched for "Werewolf Women of the SS" too!
I'm horribly biased, as a fan of gore AND zombies, so "Planet Terror" won me from the get-go. Rodriguez definitely knew what he was doing; everything from the dialogue and facial expressions to the grainy footage and ridiculous cuts were perfect. He kept me in the zone the entire film.
"Death Proof," however, was a little lacking. It started great; Tarantino's "mis-edits" and hyper-sexuality were right on, I thought. But in the second half of his half, it went from 70's sexplotation to just a regular old Tarantino movie. Granted, it was still pretty solid, but the movie itself broke character and I found that a little distracting. Still, you've got to give him credit for what seemed like a 20+ minute continuous shot. Wow. Still, the end more than made up for the shortcomings. I was spazzing out at the last car chase; I don't think I've ever been so stressed out and nervous watching a movie in my life.
One of the high points was a kid that looked 12 sitting a few rows in front of us. He was cackling the entire movie, which made the absurdity of some parts even funnier. Nothing beat his comments after the "lap dance" in "Death Proof"; he screamed out "You gotta be kidding me!" Classic!

George W Bush got 86% on metacritic when he first debuted nationwide.

And look at whay a turkey he has turned out to be.

Go Werewolf Women of the SS! I'd love to see that be turned into a movie. The Cameo at the end of the trailer had me laughing for hours after.
-
Saw it last night.
Definetly exceeded my expectations. I was sincerely Wowed, wasn't looking forward to Death Proof as much as Planet Terror But Tarantino really made it fucking awesome.
That chase seen is fucking tits.

Saw it this weekend and loved it. It reminded me of the days when I was a kid and going to a movie was an Event. I'm even a little surprised that QT/RR didn't include an introductory cartoon like they used to do.
LOVED Planet Terror. I'm also a total sucker for zombie movies, so this was just perfect. I'm also a long-lost fan of Michael Biehn, so it was great to see him action again. Death Proof was enjoyable, but as with almost all of QT's movies, it would've benefited from losing 20 minutes or so.
And if I never see QT on screen again, I'll be quite happy. He's a shitty actor, and he's just a little too eager to play racists, rapists and otherwise vile characters. He clearly gets off, mightily, in saying the N word.
