I heard this russian girl say it at a sunsations in ocean city this weekend. Then after a while I started noticing visually, not statistically in reports and all that shit, that she was right. I saw someone not able to fit down a slide at splash mountain.
Why are we fat?
And don't give me science bullshit, everyone knows the science behind it. I want philosophy.

Also, everything here is super-sized. Plus, you can gorge out at 3:00 am. I lived in Austria a few years ago, and was amazed how impossible it was to get a cheap bite to eat after, like, 8:00 pm.
We also love our cars too much and are prosperous enough that we pay housecleaners, lawncare pros, carpenters, etc., to do physical jobs that we would've done ourselves a few decades ago.
And the internet/info age is just going to make it worse. Twenty years ago, if you needed information on something, you had to go somewhere (library, post office, store, etc.) to get it, which sometimes involved some form of physical activity. Now it's just click-click-click.

Ahhh, you got me there, sort of. We did end up discovering that the only true choice for a kasekraner or bosna were the carts. HOWEVER, we had to walk about 2 miles to get there.

While overseas, I went into a McDonald's to use the bathroom (I haven't eaten McDonald's since '94!) and the fried food smell made me associate /think: "America". Nice, eh?
No, I understand, most places stop serving at 8 or close at lunch, especially in the city. I definitely missed having 24 shops for water and snacks. But, I was in Ireland, so there was beer. ;)

we should eat each other. population control and free food. the french will tell you that the fatness also makes any meat taste so succulent. you know, start with the prison folk and the homeless. clear them out first, then move on to ugly people.

i think some of it has to do with the fact that many americans, continue to eat like they are still working on the farm dawn to dark or just manual labor in general. anecdotally, it seems one runs into many more over weight folks in the midwest...
i think it was Colbert who made the crack that all overweight people are headless, as thats how they are always show on tv news reports on obesity...

over the weekend i watch the "Worlds Heaviest Man" show on TLC. It was about some Mexican guy who weighed 1200 lbs.

When I saw the thread title I thought this was a "state the bleeding obvious" thread.
Muurcans are fat bastards because they put too much shit in their yappers and don't exercise enough. You can do all the socio-economic-demographic-racial lines studies in the New England journal of medicine you want, but that's it plain and simple.
It's basically a nation of glutonous lazy bastards who think a diet plan is having your stomach stapled or liposuction.
Eat a little less and exercise a little more and you will see miracles happen in a relatively short space of time.
