I have no idea what this Imus character said, nor do I care to know...but this post is yet more confirmation that it's perfectly okay to be black and racist. Case in point....Chris Rock rants on stage about whites, but when the bloke who played Kramer did it.....it became a racist rant. What's the difference?
By the way....just why are we called 'crackas'? is it because the black economy relies on us to support it just like crack, and crack is also white?

at a minimum: when Rock did it, people laughed because there was some wit behind it. have you ever seen those routines of his? i think they're quite funny. as a white person i don't feel oppressed or mortally insulted. i don't feel that Rock hates me or whites in general. by the way, Rock also goes after blacks - they're certainly not spared from ridicule.
Michaels (Kramer) did nothing but yell "nigger" to black hecklers, out of sheer frustration. he didn't have a good come-back (because he's a lousy stand-up) so, caught without defense, he bared his true feelings. no one laughed because there was nothing to laugh at. it wasn't casting racial stereotype in a humorous light, it was naked racism.
i'm not addressing the wider "is it ok to be black and racist" question, just sayin' this is a bad example to use :)
(aside: i do love it, though, when people take a wide social phenomenon and try explaining or countering it with anectodes)

Well, as a card carrying cracka let me tell you. I think black music for the most part is hate mongering, either to whites or women, and complete and utter garbage. As for wanting to dress like blacks, not me! Why would I want to walk around with my jeans hanging below my arse, and a baseball cap just about balancing on my head and the picture of a dead rapper on my t-shirt. I get a laugh out of watching Cops and seeing the young black kids trip over their jeans when they fall down as they're trying to run away. I can appreciate it's an urban fashion statement and all that, but I wouldn't want to dress like it, they just look like 'tards' in my opinion.

I had to laugh on the way into work....Mancow is on and believe me when I tell you fl radio is absolutely the worst ever. Anyway, Mancow it was this morning, and here he is ranting on at how this Imus character should be fired for his racist comments. He has this sidekick called Al Rocker Jr. (Should be Al Sharpton Jr!) and this Al is calling white people who call in 'crackas'....now to me, 'cracka' is the white version of 'nigger' so while mancow is ranting on at firing a white racist he's condoning a black racist on his own staff. Kind of proves my point from yesterday.
I'm beginning to question if this Imus hasn't said these comments simply for the publicity, because he's certainly getting it now.

I just get sick of a segment of black society who want to blame white people for everything that goes wrong in their life. Hard as it is to believe, I agree with some of your points - to a fault. "The man keeping us down" thing got old a little while ago, even if it is still true & occuring to this day. actually, the south had previously attempted to secede for that exact reason- tariffs. john c. calhoun, then vp to pres. andrew jackson, put forth the theory of nullification, that is, the constitution is nothing more than a pact between states, whereby a state can take or leave a law that they don't like. in this case, calhoun and the south were upset over the federal govts. tariff and foreign trade laws. the south viewed the laws as favorable to northern shipping interests and against southern farmed (cotton) interests, and threatened to secede and make their own laws. jackson would have none of that and sent the military to south carolina to quell the threat.
i think you need to read some bio's on lincoln. he by no means was an abolitionist, in fact, he was only opposed to the extension of slavery into new territories, but was content on letting slavery stay in current states, being of the belief that slavery was inefficient and on the way to disappearing. it was only DURING the war did lincoln begin to view the issue of slavery as being part of the war.

Actually, a large part of the Imus show is (was?) comedy. Imus, and especially his sidekick, regularly assume various personas. For example, they regularly impersonate Dr. Phil on the show. I think this is what the bit was about. However, it wasn't very funny and was in poor taste.

Thank you, Don Imus. You extended Black History Month to April, and we can once again wallow in victimhood, protest like itâ??s 1965 and delude ourselves into believing that fixing your hatred is more necessary than eradicating our self-hatred.

While weâ??re fixated on a bad joke cracked by an irrelevant, bad shock jock, Iâ??m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Centâ??s or Snoop Doggâ??s or Young Jeezyâ??s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos.
I ainâ??t saying Jesse, Al and Vivian are gold-diggas, but they donâ??t have the heart to mount a legitimate campaign against the real black-folk killas.
It is us. At this time, we are our own worst enemies. We have allowed our youths to buy into a culture (hip hop) that has been perverted, corrupted and overtaken by prison culture. The music, attitude and behavior expressed in this culture is anti-black, anti-education, demeaning, self-destructive, pro-drug dealing and violent.
Rather than confront this heinous enemy from within, we sit back and wait for someone like Imus to have a slip of the tongue and make the mistake of repeating the things we say about ourselves.
Itâ??s embarrassing. Dave Chappelle was offered $50 million to make racially insensitive jokes about black and white people on TV. He was hailed as a genius. Black comedians routinely crack jokes about white and black people, and we all laugh out loud.
Iâ??m no Don Imus apologist. He and his tiny companion Mike Lupica blasted me after I fell out with ESPN. Imus is a hack.
But, in my view, he didnâ??t do anything outside the norm for shock jocks and comedians. He also offered an apology. That shouldâ??ve been the end of this whole affair. Instead, itâ??s only the beginning. Itâ??s an opportunity for Stringer, Jackson and Sharpton to step on victim platforms and elevate themselves and their agenda$.
I watched the Rutgers news conference and was ashamed.
Martin Luther King Jr. spoke for eight minutes in 1963 at the March on Washington. At the time, black people could be lynched and denied fundamental rights with little thought. With the comments of a talk-show host most of her players had never heard of before last week serving as her excuse, Vivian Stringer rambled on for 30 minutes about the amazing season her team had.
Somehow, weâ??re supposed to believe that the comments of a man with virtually no connection to the sports world ruined Rutgersâ?? wonderful season. Had a broadcaster with credibility and a platform in the sports world uttered the words Imus did, I could understand a level of outrage.
But an hourlong press conference over a man who has already apologized, already been suspended and is already insignificant is just plain intellectually dishonest. This is opportunism. This is a distraction.
In the grand scheme, Don Imus is no threat to us in general and no threat to black women in particular. If his words are so powerful and so destructive and must be rebuked so forcefully, then what should we do about the idiot rappers on BET, MTV and every black-owned radio station in the country who use words much more powerful and much more destructive?
I donâ??t listen or watch Imusâ?? show regularly. Has he at any point glorified selling crack cocaine to black women? Has he celebrated black men shooting each other randomly? Has he suggested in any way that itâ??s cool to be a baby-daddy rather than a husband and a parent? Does he tell his listeners that theyâ??re suckers for pursuing education and that theyâ??re selling out their race if they do?
When Imus does any of that, call me and Iâ??ll get upset. Until then, he is what he is â?? a washed-up shock jock who is very easy to ignore when youâ??re not looking to be made a victim.
No. We all know where the real battleground is. We know that the gangsta rappers and their followers in the athletic world have far bigger platforms to negatively define us than some old white man with a bad radio show. Thereâ??s no money and lots of danger in that battle, so Jesse and Al are going to sit it out.

Yeah it was announced a little while ago that CBS dropped his radio show.
Now hopefully those who have spent so much energy and effort on him personally will move onto working to get others in the media who use the same language out of their jobs as well. One perfect place to start is to have Misters Sharpton, Jackson, and others start national boycotts against recording 'artists' who do nothing but foster and promote the use of this racist and hateful language on a daily basis. If they have the courage and moral fiber to do the right thing, they will continue the fight against racism by such efforts. If they do NOT move on with this and use the same effort to curtail this use of racist language then they are showing themselves to be nothing more than people who are 100% self serving who have a vested interest in sustaining racism so they have a soap box to stand on. The ball is squarely in their court.

Yeah it was announced a little while ago that CBS dropped his radio show.
Now hopefully those who have spent so much energy and effort on him personally will move onto working to get others in the media who use the same language out of their jobs as well. One perfect place to start is to have Misters Sharpton, Jackson, and others start national boycotts against recording 'artists' who do nothing but foster and promote the use of this racist and hateful language on a daily basis. If they have the courage and moral fiber to do the right thing, they will continue the fight against racism by such efforts. If they do NOT move on with this and use the same effort to curtail this use of racist language then they are showing themselves to be nothing more than people who are 100% self serving who have a vested interest in sustaining racism so they have a soap box to stand on. The ball is squarely in their court. [/b]
How about going after the record labels that push this crap! They're making the buck off this stuff. So, they need to call out for that. BTW, the majority of hip-hop buyers are white. Something the mainstream media must have forgotten in this whole Imus controversy.

CAMDEN, N.J. - New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine was in critical condition Friday but expected to recover after his SUV crashed into a guard rail while heading to a meeting between Don Imus and the Rutgers women's basketball team.
The crash on the Garden State Parkway broke the governor's leg, six ribs, his sternum and fracturing a vertebrae. Authorities were still searching for a pickup truck driver whose actions were blamed for causing it.
Corzine, 60, won't be able to resume his duties as governor for several days, if not weeks, and he won't walk normally for months, Dr. Robert Ostrum said performing surgery on the governor Thursday night at Cooper University Hospital.
Fortunately, Corzine did not suffer any brain damage in the crash, the doctor said.

being not familiar with much slang, I have had to Interpret this from the reactions. Intertestingly, "nappy-headed" may be a cute kid and "Hos" may refer to a desireable person.
I gather that was not the intention of the remark, however.
