Title: So where are all the good fall shows?
Post by: Charlie Nakatestes, Japanese Golfer on September 17, 2008, 10:29:00 am
The three tours I'd like to see most are skipping DC (WHY are these shows playing the rest of the EAST COAST and skipping DC?????):

 Neil Young/Wilco
 DBT/Hold Steady
 Okkervil River

And there's not much else going on in October or November. Booooo!

Hey, if anybody has a Fleet Foxes ticket to sell me for twice the face or less, PM me! I was lazy and missed the boat.

Any bets on where Leonard Cohen will play on his rumored 09 US tour?

Of course there's lots going on. Just not much I like.

I remember previous Fall seasons that had TOO MANY shows I liked, this one doesn't have nearly enough! I guess it all evens out.

I'd be more inclined to go to that BTS show if Dino Jr. were on the bill.

And would be more inclined to go to one of the NYC ones if Dino Jr. were headlining.

While I should be celebrated, unfortunately I have no performances scheduled for fall.  Sorry.

I do think there's been a slight drop off. October/November is usually my busiest time of the year for concert-going, and the pickings have been a little slim compared to past years. Or maybe I'm just getting old. But here's what I have planned so far:

 Nick Cave (x2)
 The Rosebuds
Hotel Cafe Tour (I've fallen in love with Thao Nguyen!)
 The Decemberists
 Robyn Hitchcock

Speaking of Jenny Lewis, I could really use a ticket for her show if anyone has an extra. I was out of town when they went on sale. Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I wouldn't count on that.  BB have been known for erratic and underwhelming live shows for a long time.

That said, I might go.  Some old pals from richmond might come up for this so i may go for the hang.  But don't count on a frantic set from the bad brains.

just hope hr stays on stage and doesn't make a mockery of the songs and audience.

hopefully the fact that this is on election night will bring something to the table as far as the show is concerned.  on second thought, maybe I'll just stay home and watch the returns.

Out of all of the shows mentioned so far, only two are of any interest to me.

Fleet Foxes, which is sold o ut.

Of Montreal. I might want to see them, but too often the singer sounds like Alvin from the Chipmunks.

Of Montreal have left me bitter both times I've seen them.

 Never again...

They're putting more and more of an emphasis on the theatrical aspect of their show and less on actually playing the music. They've been relying more and more on backing tracks and don't sound like a tight live band at all because Kevin spends half his time up there playing dressup.

It's the studio stuff for me from here on out.

Thanks for that review. You just saved me $18. Perhaps I'll look around for another show to see instead, while sitting at home listening to Satanic Panic.
